Speaking as an F1 fan from the UK I cannot wait for this game to come out but I don't get the sense there is the same buzz around it in the USA, not sure how big the F1 following is over there considering none of the teams are based there and this season theres no race in US. I know that Codemasters racing games are considered arcadey but I really think this one could be the exception, the weather effects and dynamic track grip conditions make it really interesting. What I'm basically saying is make a quick look please!
*sorry if this got posted twice, button didnt seem to be working!*
F1 2010
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Sep 21, 2010
Developed by Codemasters and using the Ego engine, Formula One 2010 is the first truly next generation F1 game that contains all the cars, drivers and tracks from the 2010 season, putting a heavy emphasis on simulating real life weather effects.
Does anybody in USA care about F1 2010?
I just hope GT5 has a slew of licensed F1 carts, that's about it.
I generally don't do well after the game wants me to drive racing cars though. And F1 carts always had a way of scaring the hell out of me. My brain cannot process the speed (acceleration to be more precise) these things are going in.
I'm from UK as well and am eagerly awaiting this game. Understand why Americans might not be interested after Indianapolis 2005 though. I can't wait to try out the new circuits, the last F1 game I played was 2001 on PS2. Montreal, one of the best, glad to see it back Hockeymask27.
Its not a real sim unless I can just spend my way to a victory and from week to week research new diffusers and stuff and get an edge on the competition.
Americans have so many sports to choose from so it's more likely they'd follow a sport/league in which a fellow American can be cheered for. I think that's the main thing but also things like many Grand Prix's take place in Europe and when it's race time, it's early Sunday morning on this continent. Either a person is going to Church, is sleeping, or both.
" It's like soccer (I mean futebol): Small, loyal fanbase, but most don't care/know about it. "yeah, as far as cart racing goes its all about INDY in USA.
" It's like soccer (I mean futebol): Small, loyal fanbase, but most don't care/know about it. "Sorry to dissapoint you dude, but football (or soccer as you may know it) is the most practiced and most popular sport in the world. The fact that soccer is not as popular as other sports in the US, doesnt' mean that the rest of world is not into it.
" @Andorski said:My guess is that he meant within the US, since saying soccer has a small fan base is crazy, even I a person who doesn't really like soccer or almost any type of racing including F1 realize both F1 and soccer have huge followings." While I don't watch the races religiously, I'll watch if I happen to catch them on TV. But the game has been delayed for 3 days now, and I'm pretty anxious to play it.
I live in Southern California and bought this game the day it came out.
However, most Americans don't care/have no clue about Formula 1, sadly. A lotttt of Americans, mainly in the Midwest, are rednecks and somehow enjoy Nascar instead. It blows my mind. I think F1 is the best motoring in the world. Haven't missed a race this season. RBR all the way!
