How do you officially appeal a GB Review? Fable 3
This topic is locked from further discussion.
" You cant appeal, nor should you be able to. It was his opinion, not yours. That's all. "
After i read the review i watched the Quick Look, and the stuff Brad was complaining about in the review about the map and menu system didn't seem like such a bad thing to me.
I suggest everyone watch the Quick Look, if the menu stuff doesn't bother you then i think this game will be great for you. That and the last couple hours of the game seemed to be the biggest downfall of the game from Brad's review.
I love Fable 3, I think it's easily one of the best games released this year.. pushed just aside by Mass Effect 2.
But it definitely has flaws and it's not a game for everyone, I could definitely understand how it would only be a 3 out of 5 for some people, and it's a shame if anyone is passing it up just because of GB's review. But it doesn't need to be changed or "appealed". Though I will say that I think it was a somewhat unfair review. There's always going to be an element of opinion in anything like this, but I do believe reviewers should try to be a bit more unbiased towards games. Then again, it's why I tend to like most of GB's reviews.
If you enjoy the Fable games then go and buy them. Don't let any review mess with your decision and this goes for anyone. I was disappointed to see Final Fantasy XIII get 3 stars, but did that keep me from buying the game? Fuck no. I don't read reviews at all. Unless it's a new IP that I never heard about. A game that I feel iffy on.
i completely agree with you, fable's a 4/5 if not a 5/5, but you're completely wrong. a review is an opinion, just like everyone else is saying. if brad or the people that agree with his score don't like fable 3, it's their loss, not yours. revel in that.
Wow, no...just no. Game scores mean absolutely nothing as you should be reading the content of the reviews and not basing the game on the score alone. If you think Fable 3 is an amazing game the great, do your own review and give it 5 stars. Otherwise it doesn't matter, Brad's review still made me want to get the game knowing now what is going to be dumb and what is going to be good. He stated that everything that is Fable is still in the game and that's all I want from a Fable game. I've lived with Fallout: New Vegas' technical difficulties and I think I'll live with Fable 3's bizarre design choices.
The difference between GiantBomb and sites like Gamespot are simple: Gamespot tries to hide the fact that their reviews are opinions--holding them at some sort of 'factual truth.' It's very clear from the start that any and all GiantBomb reviews are what reviews should be: analytical opinion pieces on a piece of entertainment.
While I disagree with Brad's review, that doesn't mean that it holds less value for me. It was fun to read, and he made a few good points. I know what I like. I know what Brad likes. And his complaints weren't a problem that concerned me. That's how you should read a review. Not as some godlike, objective rating of a game.
But fundamentally I disagree, I think it the public will view this as GB's review, and not just Brad's opinion. Those people are wrong. That is Brad's review of Fable 3. How could it be anyone else's; his name is on the review. If someone comes and assumes differently, that is their problem, not Giantbomb's problem.
As an aside: you are also making the assumption that collectively the Giantbomb crew would rate Fable 3 higher. It is quite possible that everyone else would also give it three stars.
It just looks like another generic Fable game. If it's anything like Fable or Fable II, 3 stars is apt.
Shenmue - "7.8"
Never again.Editor's note: The preceding review is a re-evaluation of Shenmue on GameSpot - the original score overlooked certain significant features that, after consideration, invalidated the original score that the game received. GameSpot regrets the error.
" I love this website, its staff and its community. But as someone who identifies with this site, I dont want the History to show that Fable 3 got the same score as games like Mafia 2 and 50 cents Blood on the Sand. It's got some issues, but there is no way it is a peer to other 3 star GB games, check out some of the other titles that got 3 star reviews.Does an amount of stars a product has (that you have absolutely nothing to do with) matter that much to you? That's pretty sad.
All I am asking is how do we get the GB guys to consider adjusting the score? "
hey i like fable 3 and cannot give it less then a 4 outta 5, but that is brads opinion he shouldn't change it because of what other people think because it then ceases to be his opinion.

So, no is the correct answer to whatever the hell you are asking.

Fable games are lame.. IMO all of them are 2 stars my reasons:" I love this website, its staff and its community. Boring generic and corny stories
Forgivable characters
Dated not cool made for girls Artstyle
lack of deep on the gameplay department (you do everything with one bottom basically)
Ugly graphics
Stereotypical fantasy type dialog
Gimmicky karma mechanics
" You don't, its based on opinion. I agree wth them, it is a 3 star game. Edit - Oh and great job on your first post being this. "Don't be a dick to the new guy.
You have to file a complaint with the Giant Bomb Office of Complaints and a filing fee of $500. Your complaint will then be forwarded to the Giant Bomb Board of Appeals, who will carefully consider your case and make a decision. Due to the backlog, expect a delay of 2-3 years.
" @LiquidPrince: I hope you are joking. "I'm not. Your sarcastic comments aren't needed. Jeff and the gang have said multiple times, that they don't like when new users are pushed away by users who act like dicks. They want older users to be more welcoming. You are hitting a thousand posts so you're getting pretty comfortable on these forums. Sarcasm should be reserved for the forum trolls and idiots.
You've gotta be kidding me.
A score isn't meant to compare one game to another. It's meant to provide a general overview of the quality of the game. The halfway point. An inherent appreciation of this game's specific gameplay style, characters, subject matter, and so on may play as big a role in your enjoyment as the actual quality of the game.
This is exactly why they should do away with the stars. Because illiterate children, or those with too little time on their hands, base the entire review on the stars. Read the fucking thing and you can tell exactly why the game is better. If you're too good for reading the review, to be frank, you don't deserve to enjoy the game.
