    Giant '50s-looking robots for everyone!
    Giant '50s-looking robots for everyone!
With less than two weeks to go until E3, Bethesda went ahead and confirmed some recent rumors about more Fallout 3 DLC. Confirmed: there's more Fallout 3 DLC! Here's their pitch on the two new add-ons.

    • Point Lookout - Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content.
    • Mothership Zeta - The aliens have returned, and they’re pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you’re tough enough to survive.

We're looking at late June and late July respectively for these updates on Xbox Live and Games For Windows Live, both priced at 800 points ($10).

But wait, there's more! PlayStation 3 owners already got their Fallout 3 trophies via a patch, and now they can finally look forward to all this DLC rolling their way as well. The first pack, Operation Anchorage, will hit the PlayStation Network in late June, with The Pitt and Broken Steel rolling out four to six weeks apart after that. Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta will then follow sometime after the first trio is out.

This seems like great news to me overall. On the one hand, you could spend over $100 playing everything Fallout 3 when all is said and done. But really, there's no better place to nestle new quest content than the sprawling framework of a massive Bethesda RPG, and this piecemeal expansion format is a pretty neat way to turn an already great retail game into an ongoing episodic experience.

Also, it will ensure that Vinny can keep bringing up Fallout 3 on the Bombcast until the end of time.

Lastly, if you haven't played Fallout 3 at all yet (like me--crap), Bethesda closes with the news that a "Game of the Year" edition will be hitting all platforms in October at standard retail pricing ($60 on consoles, $50 on PC) that contains the base game and all five of these packs. That's so much content, it almost feels like this year's version of The Orange Box.

Wow, I'm actually a little intimidated by all this, considering I was going to get the first 3 DLC's together for my third playthrough.  Although that alien dlc seems a little wierd.

On a side note, I can't wait to see how Obisidian is making Fallout: New Vegas.  If it's anything like what they did to Kotor and Neverwinter Nights, I'll like it better than the original.

I am still playing Fallout 3 and have not reached level 20 yet, but I am getting close and getting ready to download Broken Steel. Sounds like there will be plenty more to download after that. Wow.

OMG. One of the most awesome games ever keeps exapnding. Have spent 100 hours+ on this game and more will come <3

Let's just hope that these DLC-packs will be a bit longer than the previous ones - and that there will be more levels and perks :)

No! lol.... But good try. It already has 3 DLC packs & it's only @ 1340/1340. 2 new DLC packs won't add 660 points.

Hooray! I have to spend another 20 dollars on over-priced, under-achieving, short DLC so I can actually level up to 30. I love this generation of gaming.

According to Joystiq, there's a retail disk coming out for Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt as well.  I'm not sure what the price will be, but I suspect it'll be $20 when it comes out.

I will be picking up the GotY Edition, just like I did with Oblivion.  Why spend and extra fifty bucks when you can get everything for the game at 60 bucks.  Sounds like another way that Bethesda looks out for their fans.

YES! I just told someone last night about how much I hated Bethesda for alienating their PS3 fanbase and then this happens! Now I only hate them for releasing games that aren't properly tested and that are filled with terrible animation!

GOTY edition seems to put us PS3 owners of FO3 in a weird spot. I haven't done any math, but it appears more fiscally sound to sell the original copy and grab it all in October.

Yeah what are the prices for the DLC? If its 15 each 5 *15 = 75 and getting GOTY (even if you previously own Fallout 3) is better than getting it in pieces. If its 10 each then 5*10 and if GOTY is 50-60 might as well get it anyway and give away/sell your old fallout game. I got mine in Black Friday/Pink Monday or sumething and it cost me 40 dolalr neways.

But this news really puts a smile in my face and makes me recover a lot of respect fro Bethesda as ultimately they did end up supporting the ps3 version very well (remember how buggy it was at the beginning? And trophy-less as well?)

Sounds good. I really love the world of Fallout 3 and any excuse to re enter it is always welcomed. I can honestly say I would probably keep buying the  DLC packs  till the end of time if Bethesda kept making them.

The only thing I hope is a slight raise in level limit, if my lone wanderer isn't level 40 when he gets off that alien ship then I will be a bit disappointment.

Well, this really kinda makes me glad I haven't bought it yet, even though it's currently my pick for 2nd best game of 2008. Looks like I'll be waiting for the GOTY edition for sure. Man, I'm down to 1GB left on my hard drive, though. I suppose I'll have to clean up some stuff before then.
