I guess my first question would be, do they follow a certain timeline, I mean, do I have to play them in the order they came out? Or are they just off-shoots that don't have much relation with one another.
From what I know, Broken Steel lets you play and continue your game. So that would seem like the first one to get. Thoughts, opinions?
Fallout 3
Game » consists of 45 releases. Released Oct 28, 2008
In Bethesda's first-person revival of the classic post-apocalyptic RPG series, the player is forced to leave Vault 101 and venture out into the irradiated wasteland of Washington D.C. to find his or her father.
What DLC should I get first? Broken Steel?
Operation: Anchorage = A simulation where you fight the Chinese in Alaska and get some special gear
The Pitt = Where you travel to Pittsburgh and kill things
Broken Steel = Raises level cap to 30 with some new perks, weapons enemies, and quest line that occurs after story
Point Lookout = Where you travel to Maryland and kill hillbillies
Mothership Zeta = Aliens abduct you
There's no relation between the DLC. Get Broken Steel first.
" @jakob187 said:Is that gonna come for the PC?" Dood, just buy the GOTY on the 13th! "Or this. "
" @artofwar420 said:In that case, I wonder how it'll work with the Steam version... would I just have to install the whole thing and delete the Steam version...?"Is that gonna come for the PC? "Yes "
If you were to buy them separately, they would end up costing you $50, same if you just buy the GOTY PC version, but so you know, there are some stinkers.
If you just want the good ones, I'd recommend Broken Steel first, and then Point Lookout. Both are the only substantial quests and BS raises the level cap.
Op: Anchorage is simply not worth the $10 as it strips your character of everything and forces you to play as the game dictates, something that betrays Fallout's very nature. No resource management, no health packs, just the guns you get and the recharge stations. Its also incredibly short.
The Pitt and Mothership Zeta are a matter of preference as neither let you roam or do very much, but you do get to do stuff the way you want to, even so I'd give the edge to Zeta for just being more interesting and leaving your character stripped for a far shorter period of time. Also better loot.
As for The Pitt and Mothership Zeta, I figure those are pretty much just a matter of opinion.
