I played FO3 in third-person through it's entirety and really enjoyed it. I couldn't get into first person, too used to seeing my character from playing Fallout 1 and 2.
Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
Anybody else planning to play in third-person?
I hear third person is largely improved in New Vegas. We shall see. I switched between them in FO3 so I will probably do the same here.
" Playing Fallout 3 in third person is the definition of JANKY. "Skipper the eye child is janky, Fallout in third person is just down right utter shit.
I liked seeing my character and the outfits/equipment I had on too much to use first person. Besides, most combat's accomplished in VATS anyway.
Playing Fallout 3 in third person is the definition of JANKY.Playing FO3 in first person is janky, third person is fail.
This" I only used 3rd person when looking around corners to see for any wandering mutant or raider. "
Edit: And in non combat times to check out my awesome armour.
" @pornstorestiffi said:Thats so true, the time for cyclops babies and bug headed children, who die in freak bouncing accidents is still a thing of the future." @FourWude said:Skipper the Eye Child was ahead of its time. ISOMETRIC ALL THE WAY BABY.
" I believe I played Fallout 3 in first person view most of the time, though used third person view occasionally when travelling across the wastelands. I'll probably play New Vegas the same way. "Yeah, now that I think about it, I might have done first person in combat and third person when exploring/taking in my surroundings. Not sure, it's been a while.
I played Fallout 3 mainly in 1st person, only switching to 3rd person for something random or to check how my dude looked.
I doubt it will be no different with New Vegas.
" I liked seeing my character and the outfits/equipment I had on too much to use first person. Besides, most combat's accomplished in VATS anyway. "I like seeing my character too, which is why every time I equipped something new I went in to third person for a few seconds to ogle myself...
I wonder though, am I the only one who almost never used VATS? I liked the idea of VATS but 90% of the time the accuracy percentage was so shitty that eventually I didn't even bother trying... :/
" I played FO3 in third-person through it's entirety "lol what
You're doing it wrong.jpg
"am I the only one who almost never used VATS?"Yes. Yes you are. Shooting real time exclusively is almost as bad as playing in third person.
Oh god. Imagine trying to never use VATS and only staying in third person.
" @Paulus said:There's a reason I went for major energy weapons skill. Keyboard + mouse + energy weapons accuracy and you can pretty much headshot everything without too much difficulty. :x"am I the only one who almost never used VATS?"Yes. Yes you are. I switch between the two in FO3; third slightly over-the-shoulder while traveling outside, first indoors. That's what I'll do in NV.
My first playthrough was in first-person. After that, I played in third-person because I wanted to see my badass dood at all times. Mind you, by badass, I mean "a female that was wearing the Springtime Dress, a straw hat, and shooting muthafuckers in the face like crazy". It didn't really matter since I used VATS, which kicks you into first-person style anyways.
Sure, the movement was janky as hell to watch, but whatever. I'm not going to freak out about it.
As for New Vegas, I'll probably do the same thing - first-person for first playthrough, third-person each time after.
I prefer the third person perspective as I have less issues with things sneaking up on me and biting chunks out of my leg.
Playing Fallout:3 in 3rd Person? Now that is talk of a crazy person.
jk. The only thing I used 3rd Person for is to look at my guy. But I'd be interested in checking it out if they have improved it.
I played Fallout 3 in Third-Person cause all I used was Vats, but since they fixed the FPS shooting, I'm going to play New Vegas in First-Person.
" I hear third person is largely improved in New Vegas. We shall see. I switched between them in FO3 so I will probably do the same here. "Wow, I believe that when I see it. All models in this game are ice-skating worse than games before Half-Lifes time.
I switched between both First and Third Person viewpoints. Third person was far from perfect, but I liked it nonetheless. On my more recent playthrough, I have been switching between both viewpoints. I use first person for combat, and try to avoid using VATS for the most part, seeing as there's more achievement in shooting someone dead yourself, seeing as weapons aren't incredibly accurate in-game.
I remember when I first played this game and changed the view to third person,I almost started to vomit it was that bad.So the answer to your question is no.
No way. I'll switch to third person every now and then to check out my kick ass dude, but other than that... I'm sticking to the way the game was designed to be played.
Fallout 3 in third person was fucking horrendous.
