I don't know why everyone is freaking out. The DLC is still coming to other platforms is it really that hard to wait? I would much rather DLC deals like this happen than fallout new vegas be exclusive to 1 platform.
Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
Fallout: New Vegas' First DLC To Hit Xbox Live First
Well, at least they told people before the game came out, in case that influences what platform people choose to play it on.
I'm just so sick of DLC being practically required for major releases now, especially since most of it isn't a very good value. If companies were going to do it anyway, I wish they'd limit themselves to just one or two decent ones rather than a whole slew of garbage - I would have been satisfied with just Gen. Knoxx for Borderlands, or just Broken Steel and Point Lookout for Fallout 3. I haven't played any of the ME2 DLC, but I gather it's the same way with the Shadow Broker. DLC that is announced at or before launch always sucks.
I'm getting it on PS3 regardless. Delaying DLC for other consoles is not going to entice me to buy it on your system Microsoft. Nice try.
" @MordeaniisChaos said:The fact that the announcement came from Pete Hines from Bethesda, the company who is actually publishing the game, would indicate Obsidian may or may not have had a choice in the matter." @nxau said:You mean obsidian, bethesda just licensed out the oblivion engine on this one. "" GOD DAMMIT, I HATE Microsoft! GAH! "Hate Bethesda, it's their game and their decision. "
This is the same thing they pulled with Fallout 3, it's not a huge shocker. I thought when Rock* did nice with Read Dead and put out the DLC on both platforms at the same time, maybe we'd seen an end to this type of thing, but now I just wonder if MS just didn't have enough faith in RDR as an IP to bother securing exclusive DLC rights.
I do question if the amount lost in waiting 6 months to a year to release DLC for a product on a specific platform is actually less than whatever MS pays to have it that way. I can't imagine the Fallout 3 DLC on the PS3 did too well considering the amount of time between the game's initial release and when the PS3 version of the DLC actually came out.
Of course, Fallout 3 was such a cluster fudge on the PS3, maybe it didn't even matter.
I'm going to call it now tho: New Vegas will still be a buggy, subpar nightmare on the PS3, and none of the real issues that came with Fallout 3 will be resolved to any real degree.
If this is a matter of just waiting, well, that doesn't bother me, really. That is, if it is a reasonable wait. But I've been thinking, and though it will mean absolutely Zip Di Dodah to MicroSoft by itself, I think I know my own response to the matter.
I have both an X-box 360 and a PS3.
Costume Quest
comes out on the 20th on these 2 platforms. I'm going to buy it for the PS3. I'm going to do this deliberately because of this arrogant sounding move that I strongly suspect must originate from MS. I would not have gone this route..but hey, this is the only way I know to vote , and it's with my money. Moreover, If Ithis proves as cynical as it sounds, I will hit this theme in forums every legitimate chance I get.Remember fellow gamers, It's best for us when we can even the field, it gives us better choices. Always. I'll support the PS3 more now than ever, this has woken me up.
I sure hope the shooter aspect is actually fun this time. Got really boring to have to use vats for everything.
"Yeah, I'm pretty much done with Microsoft. The only 360 game I'm looking forward to is Gears.

It's not just this, but their shitty customer support, increased live prices and lack of features for Canadians on XBL has caused me to lose all support for them.
I play all the multiplatform single player games on my PS3 so while this sucks I'll just do the same thing I did with Fallout 3 and wait for the GOTY edition which is good because I'm actually more excited to play Fable 3. So many games, so little money.

One company surpassing another and making the field uneven is what spurs the other company to surpass the other and make it uneven for their side, always even is the same problem as the status que...nothing changes
Kind of a useless exclusive. The PS3 FO3 had more problems than the 360 version, especially the DLC. So people with both consoles are probably picking the 360 version anyway and not many people will be dumb enough to switch from Steam to 360 for this.
Who is it for? It just hurts PC and PS3 players and doesn't really help anyone.

I agree that accepted parity would lead to abuse and stagnation. It has happened. But I was not advising what they should do, I was saying what we should. the struggle after all in our system is after the all-mighty dollar, this is the arena. One side dominating clearly leads to abuse, for its the nature that entities, corporate or individual, will do what they can get away with if it benefits them. It's this perceived situation after all I am reacting against and drawing a line, though of course it is at this point symbolic.
I do agree that accepted parity and controlling the market would also be bad, and though it is frowned on, and there are attempts at regulation, it does happen. especially when there is so few players. I think this is why different political and economic entities, say the European Union, ride herd on Microsoft's tail as they have done. At least for MS's propensity to monopolise. I would not trust at all if it's opponent could not maintain competitiveness. Thus my attitude. But occasionally what you describe does occur, say the Oil cartel back in the 1980's, roughly.
Wish I can say I'm surprised but this deal probably worked out pretty well for them with Fallout 3. It probably paid for the development costs just with the agreement alone.

Dear Fallout: New Vegas. By releasing all this DLC & releasing your game with a bunch of bugs, you're not making me want to buy it anytime soon. Play it on the other hand? Oh yeah.
Reprehensible. The Fallout series was born on PC, and those of us that play it there should not be punished by DLC that is for xbox only. I own an xbox 360, but I prefer to play rpg's on my pc, due to the ease of mouse and keyboard control as well as the potential for game-changing mods.
