The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
I interpret the figure here to be a threat to New Reno (or New Vegas, if it was renamed). It's been awhile since I played Fallout 2 (to death) but I don't think it was a member of the New California Republic. That flag means either New Reno joined NCR (after The Chosen One supported one of the families) and in turn became a target for the enemies of the NCR, perhaps surviving Enclave, or the NCR turned expansionist (which wouldn't surprise me, since there were shady dealings going on there).
Either way, The Chosen One impregnated any number of Wives, Daughters, and Whores in New Reno. So it probably has... protection.
Well, the 7 on his helmet could mean Vault 7 - I think 8 was in Nevada so 7 would be close? It would be interesting though to play as someone like an Enclave member or a Chinese Spy. Maybe he's a ghoul under his Killzone mask.
Yeah that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Whether the guy in the video is NCR or Enclave, I picture the descendant as being inside the city.

Its hard to make out on the helmet, but I think it looks like 171. Or maybe [7].

Funny you mention that, since one of the (Not Yet Confirmed) rumours of New Vegas is that you could pick intricate backstory's for your characters, and one of those ended up making YOU a ghoul.
But we'll have to wait for an official report on that, until then, lips sealed.
Tycho is described as "a man in dusty leather armor with a trenchcoat and gas mask." ...and Tycho is said in The Vault Wiki to have mentioned "New Vegas" as something he heard about when he was a Ranger in Nevada.

1. Only if they want to make the game fucking awesome. 2. The NCR could have totally expanded into new reno. Who knows knows how farther along in the time frame the game is.
At the end of fallout 2 it says that the chosen one's son goes to Vagas to take it by force so i geuss your playing as him also hes wearing the pip boy on his left hand
Kotaku had a really neat analysis article on the trailer, in which they figure that the character in the trailer could be Tyco from the original Fallout.

Well the trailer for Fallout 3 had a Brotherhood of Steel member in it, and when I first saw it I thought he was a bad guy. I mean, that armour 'looks' evil. Maybe its the same in NV...

I thought that trailer had an Enclave member in. It'd be quite cool to work for the NCR, but I can't help but feel there's more to this than they're letting on.

yep. I'm pretty sure that they said that this game would take place around the time FO3 did.
Maybe he's not a protagonist you play as, but an antagonist. With all the different characters you can be it makes a little sense to have one of them be a bad buy.
Well the Fallout 3 trailer was basically the same as this, but had a brother hood of steel member. This is probably similar, except obviously not the brotherhood of steel.
it mentions in the leaked details that your character is a courrier found in a shallow grave. so if the protagonist is in this trailer its the hand sticking out of the ground.
There's really no such thing as a Protagonist in this game. Given that decisions in this game, like most Fallout games allow the players to become either a Protagonist or Antagonist.
But it's already been announced that your character is not from the Vault, and since this guy has a PIP-Boy that ruins any chances of him being the main character.
@Alphiehyr: Protagonist simply means main character, or the character a story's perspective is based on. Antagonist is anyone the protagonist comes into conflict with. It has nothing to do with the relative morality of the characters in question.
@JustTheDoctor: this may be old news. but the main protagonist is the body the robot is digging up. your a messenger that was shot in the head and left for dead in a shallow grave in the desert. your found by some random doctor from the city with his robot. and he brings you back to health.
alright, so the dude in the pic is from the NCR, he carries an NCR flag, why would someone else be carrying the flag? next, the dude in the pic is NOT the player character. the player character is shot at the start of the game and buried, then dug up by a robot. the start of this trailer shows the player's body being dug out of the ground, and it is not possible to be in 2 places at once.
