It might be better on the PC but on the console it looks painfully awkward because of the lack of auto aim. This game engine isn't a shooter engine and that's probably part of the reason ironsights didnt exist in Fallout 3 and part of the reason VATS was so heavily used.
Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
Iron Sight aiming looks REALLY awkward to use
Adding stuff like iron-sights will highlight how much this game aint a shooter. V.A.T.S all the way.
Iunno what you you people are talking about when you say shit like "VATS all the way" and "THIS GAME NOT SHOOTER".
I never had any trouble hitting people without vats, and vats didnt add any damage bonuses for my character as far as I know.
Vats is fun to use for the camera angles and stuff, but other than that, all it really does is let me stop and think about what I'm gonna do for a second. since my characters were never based around VATS use and generally never got more than one use of VATS per encounter.
If anything, it's all about Luck and Criticals...And bloody mess. Every pistol shot becomes some sort of armor piercing explosive round at that point.
who cares about ironsights?
2 of my favorite shooters of the past 5 years didn't need them why does this?
Well, that's not iron sights aiming. There's still a reticle and everything.
" Do we really need to have the Fallout is an RPG not a FPS discussion again? "I just thought it was simply an FPS RPG (shooter framework and mechanics with RPG elements fuelling the rest). There really was a discussion about this?
A LOT od things looked kinda funky in the media i have seen so far... i wondered why they didn't check this stuff before releasing the media... stuff that looks like high sensitivity while aiming (probably adjustable), janky movements and whatnot... but i figure it's still gonna be as addictive as the first game. It has that Oblivion / Dead Rising feel too it.... it's not perfect but it's got all the right stuff.
Silly issues didn't ruin these other games for me. Though the random dialogue in Oblivion was challenging.
Citizen 1: Good Day!
Citizen 2: Did you know Cairn Bolete can be found in caves?
Citizen 1: NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I played with VATS whenever i had the chance in F3. Aiming and shooting just didn't feel right, and when my action points are out i usually find cover because the shooting part is no fun at all. I'd rather watch combat being played out when the bullets are based off stats anyways.
" The game looks ass so what difference does it make? "Nice dude, come to a Fallout new vegas forum when you dont even like the game and come bashing it?
This isnt IGN dude.
Hilariously enough, there are mods for Fallout 3 that handled ironsights/general combat better than New Vegas.
I guess my sarcasm doesn't do well in textform, but I'm on the "please stop bashing games you don't like"-side. :)
I just don't understand why some people find the urge to complain about stuff they obviously don't play anyway. Just leave it alone, and let the rest of us have our fun (10am Friday I'm running to buy my copy, since I live in Sweden).
Just do what I do. Equip a shotgun, run right up to the bad guy, target the dudes face, and let VATS do the rest.
I'll still stick primarily to VATS, but the iron sight aiming is a vast improvement over Fallout 3's aiming system. I wasn't able to hit the tiny bugs early on in the game, but I'm guessing that once the targets get bigger, it'll be a lot more useful, especially when I've run out of AP points.
I prefer the iron sights to V.A.T.S now. Usually use V.A.T.S if I feel like I need a boost to even the odds
haha sarasm doesnt work at all in text form. (well not for me)
Yea i hate going outta your way to bash on games. Makes you look like a douche.
I hate iron sights period is all. Well, maybe not as a rule... there's cases... I don't like it when I have to do it to hit something 5 feet away. Fallout looks like it handles that better though, so no problem.
..I don't even know what I just said.
