The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
How worthwhile would it be for me to get this on the pc? or through steam? is it as buggy ? does it run smoother ( i have top spec gamin laptop so no worries on specs )? etc
If nothing else, load times and other performnace-related bugs won't be present on a PC (provide you have a good PC). Also I am sure people will/already are working on mods to improve it.
Yeah New Vegas has a windowed mode. It is in the setup screen off the launcher. If you get it for pc may as well buy it from steam since you have to play it through steam no matter what. Also my pc is very capable of handling anything this game has and it still sees plenty of graphics bugs. If you are curious I run it at max settings and still typically see 50+ fps most of the time. But there will still be strange little white spot particles on screen every once in awhile that will flash then go away, or odd white edges on textures until I get almost on top of them.

That's bogus. If the game is broken then it's broken. And it's much easier for a PC game to crash and getting memory leaks because of every hardware and drivers for the OS. But sure, you got unofficial mods to fix some of the issues, i can't argue with that.
Well, I've been playing it for 14 hours on the PC now. I haven't really encountered any bugs. The AI path finding is a bit wonky in areas with several obstacles, but that's about it. No crashes, even after Alt-Tabbing several times. There's a bit of slowdown, but I'm running on a Q6600 with a 9600GT, so that's to be expected.

Never claimed it would fix everything, serious issues can't always be fixed by mods, sure. But mods did address plenty of issues with oblivion and Fallout, and there are even more dramatic cases of unofficial game fixes makeing a game vastly better, as in the case of STALKER and Vampire: The Masquerade -- Bloodlines. A memory leak is a code problem (having coded leaky programs and then later fixed them), so if there are more memory leaks on PC it would be because of code that exists across the board. Crashing due to drivers issues could potentially be an issue, but it doesn't sound like it is so far.
Not actually sure what part of my post you think is bogus though.... the improved performace? That is pretty obvious, you run a game on superior hardware and it will work better.
