To those on the pc that are having problems with performance
My (legit retail) copy showed up a couple days early and I can't play it because it's not supposed to be released in the UK until Friday, so Steam have taken it upon themselves to lock me out of my game until then. Is there a patch for that, or do Valve just need to go fuck themselves?
It is a config file that helps the game run smoother. I put it in. It seemed to help my performance, which was terrible, but I only spun around a bit. I have to run to class.
Thanks! I'm hoping they will release something similar to the Fallout 3 thing which made it possible to use +2gb ram soon.
Damn, that works great!
My comp:
Q6600
9600GT
2GB RAM
FPS without that file on High Settings:
The Strip: 30-40
Gomorrah Casino: 20-35
With the file:
The Strip: 60
Gomorrah Casino: 50-60
Still a bit of slowdown at times, but it disappears pretty fast.
EDIT: On Ultra, I only lose about 10 FPS. That is one awesome file.
" @JammyJesus said:Wow, you're a cunt." What? The description is terrible, what does it do and what is it for? "Wow you are thick. Just goes to show how rushed this thing was. "
I actually got a lot better performance after tweaking the graphics setting by selecting "Options" in the launcher window (before the game goes full screen). The auto-detect feature in F:NV set my game to Ultra-High graphic settings. I could anticipate every crash because it was preceded by a huge drop in frame rate as my machine choked trying to render too much detail. By going into "Options" in the launcher window, I simply changed the general graphics settings from Ultra-High to High (you can do more tweaking if you want in "Advanced" settings). I'm getting a much better frame rate and the games crashes a lot less. I know it sounds pathetic to toil over a game just to make it "crash a lot less", but I love Fallout!!!
Looks like I can't use it because i've got two monitors.
YellowOverdrive is right. If you graphics card is shitting itself, tone down the antialiasing and draw distances and LOD sliders. Just a few notches lower on some of the more useless features like grass improved my framerate a lot.
Yeah this tweak helps alot, apparently the graphics card wasn't being utilitized when there would be NPC's on screen and it was causing me massive stuttering. You just drag the direct x 9 dll file in the fallout directory and it seems to alleviate all the rendering performance issues.
Real real sad the game devs could not do this. The game is barely out and someone has fixed it up all ready.
I just finished the game.... was not going to play it again even though i wanted to because the bugs were ruining it. But this... i just tried it and it works REALLY well. The Strip is no longer 8 frames a second. Thanks for posting the link. You may have saved New Vegas.
