I am just curious what time do you guys generally see reviews up. I really need to know how this game did, cause that will be the deciding factor whether to buy it or not.
Fallout: New Vegas
Game » consists of 25 releases. Released Oct 19, 2010
The post-apocalyptic Fallout universe expands into Nevada in this new title in the franchise. As a courier once left for dead by a mysterious man in a striped suit, the player must now set out to find their assailant and uncover the secrets of the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas.
What time will the review be up?
You mean on GiantBomb or in general? Jeff wrote earlier today (or rather, midnight Sunday > Monday in his timezone) that he'd been writing a review, not saying out clear Fallout: New Vegas but everyone are pretty sure it is, for the past 26 hours and was hoping he'd be finished with it today. So probably (and hopefully) some time today, unless they aren't allowed to post reviews until its release day which is tomorrow in the US.
I'm lookin at Jeff's Fallout New Vegas achievements. I don't know if it has updated itself recently or not (it was sometime today at least), but it looks like he's still got quite a few missions left to finish.
I'm curious if reviewers aren't allowed to release their reviews, or if the game is just taking them all a long time to complete.
There is prolly an embargo until release, so it should be up on Tuesday. If not it's because he hasn't been able to finish it yet.
Apparently it's much bigger than Fallout 3. "When I look at my Fallout 3 save that says 128 hours that comment makes me both happy and sad.
...and a little scared.
" @ProfessorEss: Someone linked a preview in another thread where a reviewer said he spent 12 hours in the game so far, and barely scratched the surface. Apparently it's much bigger than Fallout 3. "Oh shit. If it's bigger than fallout 3 then my Uni career is fucked.

It may be heresy, but I'd really much rather have a smaller, say 20-30 hour game. I know "MORE GAME!" is the battle cry and all but with old people problems like jobs and bills and stuff, I can't even start these games anymore. Sucks to be old.

"I agree to a certain extant - I like my games to have the potential for dozens of hours of playtime, but also be possible to finish in a reasonable amount if I want to. A game like Persona 4, where it takes around 100 hours just to complete the story, is not something I have the time for. I did several playthroughs of Fallout 3, and I think I was pretty completionist on them, but didn't spend more than 50 hours on any single character (including the DLC). I must have put in close to 150 hours on that game all told, though.
I bet the review will be up sometime Tuesday. I haven't heard of any other reviews, which makes me think there's some sort of embargo. I'm curious what people will think.

Of course, you COULD finish Fallout 3 in under 20 hours pretty easily, hell, maybe under 10 hours, but 150+ hours later, I was sad when I ran out of quests, and I just started loading up beefy mods w/ their own quest lines and kept playing.
I expect I will do no less with New Vegas.
I must say that I'm a little worried about the radio silence on reviews of this game less than 4 hours before it comes out. I know there must be an embargo, seeing as how I haven't seen a review up anywhere yet, but I'm really hoping that it's not because the game's a buggy piece of unfinished crap, like KOTOR 2. Though they did go into it with the engine fully functional, so here's hoping.
Also, have faith. I am scared too.
If you hold my hand we can make it through this scary time together.

With the game industry not doing as well as it used to be doing, I think companies want as many people as possible to buy the game without the influence of ratings.

Makes sense too. Fallout isn't a guaranteed AAA million seller like a Halo or MW, so it makes sense that a publisher wouldn't want to take the chance of negative reviews going up when they could effect day 1 sales.

Yeah, I know it won't be on that level, but it's the one that always comes up in conversation. Alpha Protocol was at least done, if not especially good at the gameplay. In NV, the gameplay is guaranteed, and Obsidian just had to worry about the world & the story. I'm pretty forgiving with games though, while I was disappointed with KOTOR 2, I still enjoyed it. I don't think I'll have any real problems with NV, I guess I'm just worried it won't live up to FO3, which is in my top 5 for the past few years, if not #1.
