    FEAR 2: Project Origin Review

FEAR 2: Project Origin is the next game in the FEAR series. You'll be playing the role of a soldier who has a unique connection to a top secret project/girl/woman named ALMA. You'll be fighting through areas of covert ops soldiers, replica soldiers, and experiments gone bad. Through out the game you'll find yourself having to spend the majority of your time on your own, even though you are part of a team. As your connection to ALMA grows stronger your hallucinations and black outs occur more frequently, but you have to get to the bottom of what is going on.

Graphically this game looks like a tiny step up from what the original XBOX was capable of. I really wasn't all that blown away with what I saw. The soldiers that you face off against look generic, and the levels look slightly rushed. Yes when the creepy stuff happened, it passed, but when that stuff wasn't happening I felt let down.

Sound-wise this game kind of got to me. There were conversations that would be happening from time to time, but they would be ill placed and I'd miss out on what was being said. Also even though you got subtitles during intercom chat, there were times where that wouldn't even help because you're being shot at.

The controls were good and broken at the same time. I spent way too much time trying to find a way to select the weapon I wanted or the grenade that I'd like to throw. I could almost count on sudden death if I ended up with a gun in my hands that I didn't want to use during a fire fight.

as stated before your a soldier sent on a mission to first apprehend some lady, and then it all unravels. To be honest the story didn't capture me at all. I felt like it was recycled, and after playing the first Condemned I wanted that kind of experience. The spook fact felt cheap and forced. Yes there was a couple of moments that caught me off guard, but this game didn't feel right. My favorite character, and the only part of the game that I liked was Snake Fist. When you finally meet him and get an explanation of what is going on, it was great. Sadly though that is it, there isn't anything else to this game.

I'm not much of a multi-player guy, but I tested it out and found it vacant. There wasn't much life in the games. It was nice to have a mini-map to go on. I liked the fact that you only got your enemy's position when they actually moved, but maybe I just got screwed in the match, but I had piss poor weapon selection, I got one hit killed several times, and I ended up just throwing grenades at myself because I was sick of getting sniped by a rocket launcher.

I don't know anything about the first game of this series, but I can tell you to avoid this title. There isn't any real replay value, the story isn't strong enough, and you're not going to be blown away graphically. If the game had been about the armored suit you get to use in a level, then I'd say get the game, but it was for only a short span in one level. This game gets a 5.3 out of 10.

Well that's a terrible place to put a swing   Probably since 1997, Monolith has shown it can make a good first person horror game. Over the last 5 years they have really been showing us with the Condemned and F.E.A.R. series, mixing pretty decent first person action with games that are actually atmospheric and scary. This talent continues to be shown in F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. Starting just before the end of F.E.A.R. the player is put in control of Michael Becket, a member of Del...

FEAR 2 is quite a ride, despite lacking in the scares department 0

If a very atmospheric first person shooter is what you're looking for, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is your game. Monolith's latest in a series of creepy first person games such as Condemned and FEAR is another success. Exciting set-pieces and some pretty entertaining attempts at immersing the player make this a really fun ride.    FEAR 2 has more of a "Blockbuster" feel to it Whereas the first FEAR had you take control of Point Man, FEAR 2 features a different, albeit just as silent prot...
