So, I've decided to try playing through all of Fez without any hints. I doubt I'm going to be able to do it seeing as apparently some of the puzzles are pretty hard, but who knows. I also decided to record myself doing it because...well why not. Here's the first episode for anyone that's interested in watching. I'll probably be putting up episodes once every week day until I'm done, or simply give up. So, in a way, it's like my own personal endurance run.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

Best of luck! Fez is definitely a game that I feel everyone should experience. It's one of those games where it really is up to you how deep in you want to go. One thing I can tell you though is that you probably won't get into the craziness(and thus, won't get into the hard stuff) of FEZ until you get to New Game+.

At least, that's what it was for me. My first playthrough, I was too busy just doing the platforming, enjoying the art and music of the game, and getting the cubes to actually dive into the depths that FEZ goes to. It's when you start running out of the easily obtained cubes that you start realizing that there's more than what meets the eye. So again, best of luck! It's a very rewarding game if you are successful in figuring it out!

@h83r: Yeah that's what I hear. So far it's kind of just a really relaxing game. I can just sit back, collect some cubes, and enjoy the art and music.

@I_smell: Yeah, well that's what I plan on doing. Would you say the cubes you didn't get are basically impossible without some help?

@DoctorWelch: I personally think the last few cubes are impossible to get without being Phil Fish, the designer on the game.
When I finally cracked and looked it up, I said "oh fuck you, I wouldn't have got that in a million years."

I don't know how much you know about FEZ, so for everyone else who's played it, I'm talking about:

I'm actually kind of interested in FEZ to be honest, is this series going to be a daily or weekly kind of video playlist or will it be more sporadic with how you play? Also first impressions of FEZ, did hearing anything about it on the internet spoil any of it?

@Brunchies: I'm planning on making the videos consistent all they way through right up until I'm done. Of course, I am in college so that might interfere. I am able to record a week or more worth of episodes in one day if I keep them at around 20-30 minutes, so hopefully I won't run into any bumps.

As for your second question, I'm almost always pretty good with keeping myself ignorant about a game I know I'm eventually going to play. So even though I've heard the game is pretty challenging after the first playthrough, I know absolutely nothing about the specifics of the puzzles and such. Actually, I usually like to know as little as possible before playing a game, only because it makes the experience more exciting for me. I like to learn everything for myself because it makes it more of an adventure. If I already know how the mechanics and such work going in, then it ruins some of that fun of learning the game.
