Can't find it for anywhere under 60$. Does anyone know if buying a used copy of the game (I'm thinking about the Ultimate Edition) will work? Or do you have to buy a new copy?

@Zenaxzd: I've got a Mac with no Boot Camp installed. And I want to try XI because its the only FF I haven't played.
This is the best I can find:
http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/final-fantasy-xi-online-xbox-360-used/10104670.aspx?path=fb627d2fb479912063980233d3bf888fen02
though I'm worried that since its used I won't be able to register it... bah..
i say go ahead with the ultimate collection Ive played FFXI for a couple years and they have made LOTS of improvements.

This is honestly the worst MMORPG I have ever played.
I see you haven't played XIV.
11 was all it took for me to not even bother trying that one out!
Good choice!
XIV was laughable. Its actually hard to articulate just how broken and barren that game was, when I played it.
Alright! I found a used copy for 360 for 5$, though I'm sure the registration codes that came with it are used up. Trying to figure out a way of buying registration codes online.
According to this guy, I should be able to. Though Playonline is having maintenance right now.. wahh..
It was like being forever lost in a massive desert where all the sand was actually shit and for some random reason you only had one shoe on. No matter which way you went, it all looked the same and walking through it felt really awkward and off balance. Also, you were on fire.@SaFt said:

You cant use a used copy of the game because of the registration code. I bought a copy about a year ago and it was 25$.

@Demoskinos: I don't think liking XI really puts you in a minority. It's just from another age is all, no different from other MMOs of it's day. Plenty of people have fond memories of it, I am just not one since I didn't even own a PC of my own until WoW was a thing.
Also for people talking about 14, that game is pretty much like any other MMO at this point since they rebuilt the dev team. WoW influences everywhere but they managed to keep their own FF slow turn based combat feel and it's pretty fun if you enjoyed FF12 (mostly same dev team now). Still has a long way to go but I assume the marketing push will begin later this year when they start pushing the PS3 version.

You had to be there....Maaaan. Never seen such a clusterfuck of bad descisions SE made with that game at launch.
@StrikeALight: Nah, I am pretty happy I was not there at the launch. I had a friend who was and he told me much of a shit show it was. It's not really like that anymore, though. I don't know how the game made it out like that but the people responsible for it no longer have any major involvement with the game which is only a good thing.
@CL60: whaaat the 360 version?? Which Future Shop?
All I see on the Future Shop website are some used copies of it but I have to get it new because of the registration codes.

Yeah, 360 versions. Futureshop at Dartmouth Crossing in Nova Scotia. Was like 5 copies there.
@CL60 damn, I'm jelly! Bums me out that it isn't available on th FS website to send to my location.. Guess I'll get it from amazon.ca, which includes some of the expansions... then buy the rst of them digitally.
FFXI is a grindy MMO like many, but its not as bad as it was upon its original release. There's lots of ways now to fast track leveling, and make things move a bit quicker. But yeah just depends on how Square Enix handles the release of the next expansion on Xbox360, they could do another Ultimate Collection that gives you the original game + every expansion + Adoulin, or they could just sell the new Seekers of Adoulin expansion alone, hopefully its a new ultimate pack and anyone wanting to buy it can get a full version without having to hunt for an old copy.
