Limsa Lominsa seems a bit like, maybe Greece or Spain?

And from what I know, Gridanian names are based on France, so I would say that Gridania is based on France, while its architecture is culturally Nordic.

And Ul'dah is definitely inspired by the Middle East and Near East. Which culture most of all, perhaps Turkey? But Ala Mhigo also kind of reminds me of Turkey. This is one of those things I really want to ask Gaijin Goomba about.

I don't feel like they go for specifics very often, just broad regions. Limsa feels like its just meant to invoke the whole Mediterranean, Ul'dah the Middle East(Persia, maybe?), Ishgard is like reaching in and grabbing a bunch of HRE territories and rolling them into a ball. Gridania is... a city from a fantasy RPG I don't know about that one.

I feel they're getting more direct now though. Ala Mhigo with Turkey, Hingashi with Japan and Othard with mainland China.
