    I doubt there's actually even that many people trying.  Odds are their servers are designed like shit, like the rest of the entire process.  Probably 2000 people killing the servers alone.

    If thats the case thats bullshit. They should've accounted for at least 3000 people fighting to get in on this.

    @demontium:  They probably should have designed it so there wasn't so much server overhead to every single process anyone does for their site.  The entire signup has been needlessly complex and poorly designed.
     
    Maybe they should have given people codes automatically after they signed up for the closed beta staggered, and through emails.
     
    Seriously, there is a mountain of things about half of the internet could have told them which would have been painless for them to implement and would have only helped them and their customers.

    Unrelated but what you said reminded me of signing up for a Konami ID. Tiresome process that asks for tons of needless options and restrictions. Maybe it's a Japanese thing :p.

    What a fucking joke, now they've suspended giving out keys.  I'm pretty sure Square doesn't want anyone to know how shitty the game is at this point.
     
    It's hard to imagine a bigger MMO failure than APB, but here we are...

    The servers crashed so they suspended the betas for now(probably simply until tomorrow) big whoop. it happens for most betas.

    @CL60:  I've never heard of delaying an open beta on the day of the beta.  I've never been in a single beta that handled the open beta phase so incompetently.  And, as I've said, I've been in MANY betas.

    @CL60:  There is a difference between problems and self-inflicted problems caused by in-house decisions.  There is a difference between not having the server capacity to allow 100,000 simultaneous peak user conditions and creating a website with inefficient coding that requires users navigate 5+ pages to accomplish a single task.  There is a difference between sending out open beta keys and having mirrors to download to client and having a single P2P updater option.  There is a difference between having an overloaded patcher and having a patcher that isn't coded properly so your UPnP support is completely broken.
     
    There is a difference between a game that is coming out in 3 months and one that is coming out in less than a month.
     
    I'll state once again, I have never seen problems this widespread in an open 'beta' phase, ever.
