Press conferences are almost always an effort to manufacture hype.

Someone said it before, and yeah, that demo sounds (as in music wise) Kingdom Hearts as hell.

Why is there so much stuff outside the game? Why is there a movie? Why has the scope of this thing exploded? Did they not learn?

Why couldn't they just focus on delivering a really good game?

Truth be told, this is a surprisingly jam-packed show.

@csl316: I mean yeah, they're bringing it. I just hope it works out for them, and doesn't end up like the last time they tried to build a "universe".

It's been so long since this game was first announced that they probably feel like they have to deliver more than just a good game to meet the crazy people's expectations that have built up over so long.

Fabula Nova Crystalis Lives again in the Final Fantasy XV universe

There's just so much stuff outside of the game with the anime, movie, demo and mobile game. I can't help but feel like they're going to lose money. This is another Spirits Within waiting to happen.

@beforet: It really is bizarre. Square totally planned an expanded universe for XIII before they knew its flagship game would be incredibly divisive. I personally think the last generation taught Square some hard lessons - about development workflow, hd asset generation, changes in the international market - but it's discouraging to think that possibly the most crucial lesson went ignored.

Didn't Sakaguchi leave/get fired after the failure that was Spirits Within? Now they bring him back and immediately make the same mistake?

I shall now change my retort of "Square Enix likes announcing games more than they like making them" to "Square Enix just likes announcing things."

Hopefully this isn't a case of "you need to watch the anime for the full story", because I'm not even going to wind up playing the game at that point.

I'm calling it, they moved the release date one day after Gamespot's leak!

I will not dispute this, I'm just surprised he's not the face of this project. Everything about this game drips that sweet Nomura juice.

Edit: Seeing that trailer, I'm in. It looks good. I just hope they can deliver, and not trip over all the other stuff they are pushing.

I wonder how many people are employed over at Square Enix whose job is simply to make trailers. I'm guessing like 50%.

While the stream has been pretty strange, the game looks fucking amazing...also the car TRANSFORMS INTO A FUCKING JET!!

The FPS in the trailers are kinda rough. Hope they lock it at 30

The air button goes off, I'm riveted to see the release date despite the leak. "Aww... they were wrong... NO, THEY WERE RIGHT AND IT'S TWO MONTHS EARLIER!!!" Flashy music and sounds, I'm assuming this is what pacinko is like.

I think I settled into the style of the show. Though I wish we didn't have the commentary over the gameplay stuff - between trailers and such is fine though.

Everyone at Square Enix can now rest and focus on the real stuff: do this all over again for the VII Remake

Doesn't it feel good to be excited about a video game the same way we were in 1999? They pulled it off, I'm excited about Final Fantasy 15.

There's a lot of Fabula Nova Crystalis comparisons, but this is more similar to the FFVII treatment than anything else: anime OVA, full length CG movie, and the inevitable spin off games.

Also Tabata has the look of a man that hasn't slept in a month.

@xanadu: Yeah. The pre-show (and not post-show) have been quite strange (especially mixing community managers, youtubers/streamers and fans together)

Watched the first episode of the anime OVA, pretty mediocre.

@turambar: I liked it. It was short but pleasant. The animation was better than it seemed from the trailer on the stream (probably my stream having issues).

The fiddle was played tonight.

To anyone who has checked out the new demo: Does it have that gross vignette thing on the edges still? The first demo was so hard for me to look at because of that.

Anime is ok, I guess. Dudes seem pretty chill considering their homeland was just invaded.

I'm pretty convinced Square Enix press events are organized by space aliens, but hey, the game looked pretty good.

Wow. They're really deep diving on FFXV.

Square is investing so much money around this game and it has me very worried. All of the trailers look cool, but all of this fluff around the game that nobody actually cares about looks terrible.

It was the animation specifically that I thought was meh. Did a decent job of giving the 4 characters more personality though.

I do think it looks like a low-budget anime but maybe I'm okay with that because when I saw the trailer, it looked worse to me (so seeing the actual quality was a pleasant surprise). If I was more into anime in general, maybe I would have been more bothered.

So they went full on for the "stand by me" 4 guys on a road trip vibe with the theme song.

My hype levels exceed maximum for this game. Didn't expect THAT much shit to be revealed. I was happy with just the release date. I need Kingsglaive asap.

And I love that they went full court press, balls to the wall for this. This is fucking Final Fantasy. It's an important franchise. Make it feel big again.
