Fly'N, it's a game. It's not really about flying, as in airplanes or birds, but you are a little bug thing that can float. Also, although it's not actually stated in the game, the developer's blog says the blue bug thing is named Flyn. Get it? get it? Huh huh?

It doesn't stop at the blue bug though, there's also a green one, a black one and an orange one. They can sing, stick to surfaces, bounce and dash in mid air, respectively.

My initial impression of the game wasn't too favorable towards it, but it's since ramped up the difficulty and become more interesting overall.

Anyway, I'm playing through it right now and here's what I got so far:

    Part 1!

    PART 2!

    PART 3!

    PART 4!

    PART 5!

    PART 6!

    PART 7!

    Enjoy!

The game reminds me of LocoRoco. I dig it.

I will always prefer playthroughs that do not include artsy indie games. So seeing you gravitate more and more towards games like this is kind of a bummer.

But I will take any Hamst3r content over no content and you should always play what you want and not what other people want you to play when doing things like this.

Anyways, I'm liking the resolution but not really the style of the art so far. Gameplay seems pretty bland and safe for the genre.

Got some moments of brilliance in the sound design tho!

Looking forward to more as per usual, keep it up.

@Jimbo_N: Don't worry, I won't be playing just indie games - I'll always mix it up with some AAA and horror - but they are my main thing. The very first playthrough I did was for VVVVVV. :D

But yeah, Fly'N is a bit bland so far. It's Gish without Gish...or a cut down version of Within a Deep Forest. I've reached world 3 now, so perhaps this new bouncy bug thing will offer some interesting play.

Anyway, thanks for checking the videos out!

Holy shit your video setup is amazing! You must give a tutorial of how you did your green-screen, camera, and audio levels (even better than Giant Bomb!).

After playing Botanicula, this looks right up my alley. You've probably convinced me to pick it up :)

I'm going to attempt to be thorough with my text here, without writing an essay:

The green screen is a 12 footer from Amazon.com, the camera is the Microsoft Lifecam Studio and the lighting is just two square desk lamps on either side of the desk.

The game footage is recorded with Fraps, the mic audio is recorded with Soundforge and the camera video is recorded with the free Microsoft Expression Encoder. Which all gets edited together with Adobe Premiere and the Boris FX keying plugins as they work better than the built-in ones.

The mic audio is cleaned up with the Voxengo VoxFormer and Elephant VST plugins to EQ > gate > dual-band compress > de-ess > and limit them.

That's the setup. As for a tutorial, I'm sure if you had the stuff you could figure it all out as it's pretty plug-n-play and nothing crazy like a Tricaster or anything high end. Learning Adobe Premiere would probably be the most difficult part. :P

the screen extends the width of the room.

Thanks! There's quite a few videos, so I suggest checking out the Playlists, as they're up to date. I don't think there are any videos not in a playlist. :3

Hey Hamst3r! I don't post in your topics very much (because thinking of something worth while to post is pretty tough) but I do enjoy your videos. I especially love your musical touch (such as The Fast Forward Song, Super Meat Boy beat boxing, the sudden Alan Wake Freestyle Rap) so I'm always looking forward to those interludes when you fit them in.

But I did want to ask how difficult Fly'N feels to you. Is it better or worse than Super Meat Boy? Some of those parts look frustrating.

Yo! Thanks! While no mini-songs, there are a few bits of nonsense in video 4, which will be up in about 2 1/2 hours. :3

Some of Fly'N's challenges are up there with parts of Super Meat Boy, but I'd say a lot of it is just weird control stuff and a general lack of checkpoints. Everything is very floaty and there are weird bumps and stops as you enter and exit each characters special ability. It just feels squirrely.

@Hamst3r: Gosh, that's a pretty game. The rotating bit at the end of part 3 reminded me a bit of Super Hexagon.
