So...Metallica's Playing BlizzCon

We're only a few weeks away from BlizzCon 2014, and the closing act has been revealed: Metallica.

Yup.

BlizzCon physically takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on November 7 and 8, but "virtual tickets" can be purchased, as many of the events and panels (including the Metallica concert) will be streamed online.

I'll still not get that virtual ticket.

Fifth Blizzcon in a row I'll be skipping the concert. Sad they haven't had anything good since Video Games Live.

I have a hard time believing that Metallica is a good live show these days. At the same time I think anytime I've heard a live recording of anything Metallica it sucked. On the other hand I kind of feel bad for anybody trying to perform at Blizzcon. I have a hard time believing that a Blizzard audience is a good audience for anything besides a new game related announcement from the company itself.

Also, this is funny and weird...not sure about "cool" though (and Metallica was a favorite when I was in middle school so I have nothing against their music). But come on, not sure what these guys still have that is appealing (be it live or studio).

I'd be all for it if they divide to just troll people and play stuff from that weird Lou Reed album, then close with "Mama Says." If anyone yells for an encore they come back and punish them with the entirety of the St. Anger album.

Well I'm suddenly several times more interested in Blizzcon than I was five minutes ago.

That said, I tend to go for some Iron Maiden or Judas Priest for my heavy metal fix instead of Metallica, so still not going to get one of those "virtual ticket thingies."

The past 2 Blizzcons while waiting for the concert announcement, I've always speculated and hoped for Metallica. Now it's a thing. It's going to be awesome. The best part is because of the audience, like Blink-182 it will be very easy to get close to the stage, etc.

Metallica puts on one of the best live shows in the world. They're incredible and it kind of makes me wish I were going to Blizzcon, but I haven't played a Blizzard game since D3 so that wasn't really on my list this year. Might have been a selling point if they had announced it sooner.

Seems like a good fit, Metallica is about as mainstream as metal gets. They'll probably put on a good show.

Blizzard has been beating the same MMO to death for over a decade, and they still have contributed more to innovation and creativity than anything Metallica has done since before I was born.

I'd have preferred Beatallica, personally.

I have No Remorse about missing this.

I'm hoping they put a VOD up of the concert, cause I am not too keen on spending $40 on a livestream of a concert. (Maybe for something like a metal festival like Wacken, but not just a single act)

What I really mean is that I think it's awesome. I'm not the world's biggest Metallica fan anymore but they know how to kill it on a stage, and it certainly beats getting that band that nobody remembers a year from now :)
