So yeah, technical difficulties kinda ruins most of the GOTY podcast with all the distracting sounds like the heavy breathing and other noises in the background
And Brad and Vinny sounds distant but its the breathing that distracts me the most, is there any kind of way to improve the recording?
It's just a shame that this happened to the longest podcast ever
Can the GOTY podcast be "fixed" somehow?
"It happens one hour into the podcast and it sucks, I'm still gonna listen to it but laterI haven't noticed any technical difficulties, but admittedly I'm not that far in. Hopefully it doesn't get too rough. I don't know for sure, but I imagine it's a possibility that there's some kind of noise compressing program out there.
"
I don't think it's bad at all, it's not "unlistentoable" by any means. It could be better though, and I agree for it being the longest podcast it is a little bit of a shame but oh well. I'm happy there's a near 4 hour podcast =D
I just went to about an hour in (I"ll listen to this a little later) and I didn't notice anything, I am on bullshit speakers tho so it might be because of those
I don't think it sounds that bad, actually. Reminiscent of the E3 / PAX / Event podcasts that have a bunch of people in the room talking. No biggie.
" @Claude said:Yeah, the shocking secrets of the game caused the recording room to fall apart. I imagine there was a lot of exploding glass too." They stopped to talk about spoilers in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on the Wii and then technical difficulties. Curious... "By spilling the beans, Brad cursed the rest of the bombcast! It all makes sense! "

"I prefer how it actually sounds thinner/crisper aside from the breathing and Vinny and Brad reporting in live from Canada. Usually the bombcast sounds kinda muffled to me.
Several days ago Ryan mentioned something about a great, productive day ruined by technological bullshit... He said he was so pissed he was shaking. I guess this was the problem he was talking about.
It sounds compressed already. That's all you could do with a problem like that, compress the shit out of it. Considering how it would have sounded raw, they did a great job. The breathing sounds are in speech range and would get louder in the mix using a fix like that. It's the best they could do, I suppose.

Nonetheless, I didn't so much have an issue with that...as I did with whoever was constantly breathing into the damn mic after the technical difficulties! LOL I just kept thinking "man, thank God they don't smoke, because it would be renamed to the Giant Wheezcast".
The GOTY podcast was great as usual, though, and I think that the Wii Game of the Year deliberation in particular was really interesting, as well as PC Game of the Year.
It was a great podcast. I'd listen to them talk about games all day.
Well, maybe not all day...
i fucking love the bombcast, im known to have listened to all of the bombcasts multiple times (yeah im sad like that) but the GOTY bombcast, while amazing content wise, was really distracting, and it broke my number one rule of what NOT to do on a mic...EVER... and that is chew. When someone (jeff?) started eating the cookie or whatever it was it really drove me nuts. The heavy breathing was really distracting too, and it usually doesnt bother me on the bombcast, but this time it was a bit much.
I'd take it easy there, fella. It was a one-technical issue.
To be brutally honest, if they were to try and take every teenybopper's "number one rule" into account there wouldn't be a bombcast... or a website for that matter.
Those podcasts are a pain in the ass to do sometimes, I bet. Especially when there isn't much to talk about. Be glad we have this wonderful site.

"i love that even tho i said i fucking love this site and the bombcast, the slight complaint and some people just go berserk in defending them. I sware, they could put a bombcast entirely of nails scratching on a chalkboard sounds and you would defend it. They are awesome, but everybody fucks up. this bombcast had some distracting heavy breathing, and loud chewing on the mic (which annoys me, but thats a pet peave of mine). I didnt say I wasnt thankful for their hard work or that I didnt enjoy it. Maybe who should "take it easy there fella" is you.
I know its horrible i hate paying for things that suck. Oh Wait...............................................It's free and not bad turn it off if you don't like it.
I remember trying to listen the 1up yours at PAX and the sound quality was so bad you couldn't hear any of them.
IT's a bit silly to complain about it considering they had what roughly 5 hours of bombcast this week (The minicasts round up to about an hour)
It didn't bother me too much because it was due to a technical mishap. Damn near any other podcast I've heard from other sites have people breathing into the mics as if they'd just run a marathon, CONSTANTLY smacking their lips (this offense equals me turning off the podcast and never listening to it again), or eating no less than 600,000 cans of Pringles at top volume. And in the case of this Bombcast, it wasn't always happening, it would be every few minutes I'd notice one of them breathing pretty loudly and then stopping.
When the break came and Ryan was running his mouth about their troubles, I figured the rest of the podcast would be nigh-unlistenable, I was thankfully wrong.
It sounds a tiny bit archaic, but it didn't bother me. Also, I've never gotten people's hatred of hearing other people breathe.....
I was kind of worried when Ryan said during the break that there were technical difficulties, but it ended up not bothering me at all, maybe because I wasn't listening to it through my headphones but on my laptop, that never let me hear the podcasts to loudly. Also I was playing, y'know, during.
