Do listen more closely when Paul Barnett talks about the evolution of the medium or are you a fan of Mega64's origin story?
The Bombcast tends to have elements of both, but which one do you dig more?
Do you prefer the Bombcast when it's funny or when it's insightful?
These guys genuinely seem to enjoy what they're doing and that's what drew me to the Bombcast. They're hilarious at times, chattin' with the Mega64 crew about hot durgers, and at other times... well, hilarious. There's insight to be had if you're interested in a dissection of beans or why Phoenix Down is named the way it is, but I don't come to Giant Bomb looks for ponderous reflections about the gaming industry. However, if they provide it, their discussion style would most certainly make it worth hearing.
If there were a 'Both' option, I would use it. But since I had to choose I picked 'Funny', because it is more fun.
It's better when it's funny. The insightful stuff isn't particularly insightful, although it could be considered funny.
They're all funny enough naturally, I don't think they need to dedicate specific parts of the Bombcast or other site features to it - it feels forced to me. Which is why I don't bother with the Endurance Run - ultimately I'm here for quality games coverage and discussion. The manner in which it is delivered is only why I choose here instead of anywhere else, it isn't in itself what I am here for.
One thing I do think they should consider is rotating the Bombcast host. 'Jeff & Ryan' are -by far- the funniest combination on the site, and I think it's kinda wasted when Ryan has to concentrate on hosting all the time.
As much as I enjoy the insightful discussions they have, it's definitely better when it's funny. The humor is kinda the biggest reason there is to listen to the Bombcast.
I love how many people are mad about the lack of an all-of-the-above option. C'mon guys, do you really not at least lean one way or the other?
The Bombcast serves both purposes and you can like both--I happen to be in that boat myself--but if everybody just puts "both," the poll stops being interesting as a barometer of opinion. Both is the safe choice and, as such, is lame.
