The other day Ryan said that he cut most of the conversation about Vinny and computers parts or something of the sort. Why edit the cast at all? Really, the more the better, no?
Why do they edit the bombcast?
" So they can complain about how many man hours are being wasted "Those are hours with sick beards in case anyone was wonderin'.
Sometimes they really go off topic for a while. I don't mind if it was unedited but I don't have any problem with them editing it, it's understandable.
I've heard enough unedited podcasts to fully believe that editing is can turn a bad podcast into a good one and a good one into a great one. It is a necessity and not a dirty word. No one, not even the Giant Bomb crew, is interesting 100% of the time. Let Ryan edit and keep the show entertaining throughout.
The only times i have heard Ryan edit is due to time (say for some reason they cannot finish the cast in one sitting) which was never admitted but it really seemed like it on one podcast as someone left then suddenly they were still there.
I've never noticed other edits although it would not be bad or uncomon for them to edit out stuff they cant say, too much spoilers, or conversations outside gaming that goes on too long (such as Computer Building or tech stuff that they sometimes talk about).
I generally have not noticed any other edits (and reason I mention Ryan alot is because I know Ryan is the one who edits the bombcast).
It's for the same reasons a movie gets edited: sometimes you just don't need everything to be in there, be it for reasons of pacing, clarity or because something just didn't work.

" I do hope there is some compilation of cut bombcast moments. "Yup, an end-of-year outtakes podcast might be a nice idea. That said, we have no idea if there's anything usable in there, considering how much cussing and jerking around still makes it in. Plus I'm giving the thumbs up to Ryan doing more work, which I'm sure he's all spoony about.
