I don't know if it would have anything to do with the wiki update, but if you take a forum thread url, say https://www.giantbomb.com/power-glove/3000-2/forums/prolly-one-of-the-best-inventions-ever-18/ and stick a number on the end thusly, https://www.giantbomb.com/power-glove/3000-2/forums/prolly-one-of-the-best-inventions-ever-18/111, it can take you to a different thread entirely. It seems to only work with some threads; others just 404, even with numbers that work for threads that allow this "feature".
I was having the same issue with the this thread https://www.giantbomb.com/body-language/3030-26984/forums/is-this-just-a-porn-dvd-1834713/ where the link on the forums always has a different number at the end. For example, if it has a 17 https://www.giantbomb.com/body-language/3030-26984/forums/is-this-just-a-porn-dvd-1834713/17 it will refresh to this unrelated thread https://www.giantbomb.com/popeye-rush-for-spinach/3030-43/forums/oh-my-godz-17/
I was having this problem the other day when just refreshing in the page would break the links. It looks like it will sometimes remove the # from the last bit of the URL, and when it refreshes tosses you to the error 404 page, or my favorite, takes you to another thread entirely.
this thread https://www.giantbomb.com/burnout-revenge/3030-16492/forums/psa-burnout-revenge-is-now-backwards-compatible-on-1834692/#19 when going in removes the # shortly after loading, and refreshing brings me to a great 10 year old thread about 50 cent https://www.giantbomb.com/50-cent/3025-13/forums/fitty-is-one-of-my-favorite-rappers-and-in-game-vi-19/
This thread https://www.giantbomb.com/grand-theft-auto-v/3030-36765/forums/return-to-gta-online-1834711/#2 also redirects here https://www.giantbomb.com/super-mario-world/3030-1334/forums/when-is-mario-going-to-die-2/
using the latest firefox
Just chiming in to say I have also encountered this. Repost:
At first I thought I misclicked but after refreshing a thread just now and watching it transforming into a 9 year old discussion about Nappa and Vegeta I have concluded that there is an odd bug going on. The only page I can remember taking me too was something about Snowboarding and about whether Claude from GTA 3 is the some character from 2. It has happened on both Chrome desktop and Chrome mobile.
I've just encountered this with the following thread https://www.giantbomb.com/e3-2018/3015-9042/forums/e3-local-time-google-calendar-for-the-live-streams-1835013/
At first copy/pasting the link or refreshing was coming up with a 404, then I posted a reply and it started redirecting to this weird thing https://www.giantbomb.com/super-mario-world/3030-1334/forums/when-is-mario-going-to-die-2/ a thread which apparently this bug seems to prefer for some reason.
Is redirecting me here upon a refresh: https://www.giantbomb.com/lands-of-lore-guardians-of-destiny/3030-7885/forums/just-an-all-around-fantstic-game-13/
I thought I was going insane.
This bug is real confusing if you have your browser set to resume the same browsing session when you open it..
I am totally getting this bug as well. I think it might have something to do with the # and number added to the end of the url whenever you are going to someone's initial post and then on refresh/resume it redirects because... uhh...
[FWIW, windows 7 (64 bit), latest chrome 66... ]
This is almost one of those bugs almost could be regarded as a feature, it's like the GB forums infinite.. Each time you reopen a session you get all new threads you never seen before.
Only problem is that it is never intentional and might be the exact thing you don't want.
gets redirected to
I'm also sometimes getting redirected to https://www.giantbomb.com/grim-fandango/3030-13230/forums/how-many-grim-fandango-fans-on-giant-bomb-3030/ from that Click thread for reasons I can't quite replicate (sometimes I click back and end up back at the Hitman image gallery, sometimes I click back and end up back at that Click thread, then clicking back again goes to the Grim Fandango thread)
