I use the premium RSS feeds in iTunes to download all the videos, recently I've noticed I'm being prompted to re-enter my user name and password every couple days, even though I've checked off the "remember me" box in the log in. It's getting to the point where I sit down at my TV to watch a new video and often times the new ones haven't downloaded as the password prompt had popped up.

This has been happening for the last couple months, has anyone else had this issue? Or any ideas as to how I can get it fixed?

Thanks!

I talked with our engineer who does the RSS stuff, and we don't look to have changed any of the RSS stuff since we launched the site design. Is anyone having this problem with non-iTunes programs?

Found out what was causing my error. It was local, not server side. It has been resolved.

@rorie: Hi Matt. I fought a long, hard battle against iTunes to get the premium RSS feed working months ago. So long ago I can't remember the fix. I've had to switch the location of my iTunes library and am having the same issues as the OP and what I had months ago. To get around to your question -- I use Downcast for all my podcasts, audio AND video, and have never been able to get the premium feed to work.

@ampersand81: Hey duder,

I was just wondering what exactly happens when you try to access the premium feeds on iTunes. Does it not authenticate you at all (rejected username/password) or does it keep your username/pass for a few days before asking for it again?

Also, are you on windows or mac?

Thanks!

@rchen: Each failure is a rejected userid/password. I'm on Windows 7.

@ampersand81: Thanks for the quick response. Can you try going to this link in an Incognito Window for Chrome or another browser you never use and enter in username/pass for GB, be sure it's not your email but actual username.

Thanks

@rchen: Done! I'm getting the same behavior as iTunes & Downcast -- after entering the information the prompt pops back up with both fields blank.

@rchen: Also just tried it on Downcast. Came back with "Authentication Failed."

Hmm ok, this appears to be an issue with your username and password. Can you try logging in with your Giant Bomb credentials on this site (http://freemyfeed.com/) and see if it gets you back a feed?

I don't highly recommend using that because you're giving your credentials to a 3rd party but it will give you a feed that does not require login.

@rchen: So...would a password change fix this?

@ampersand81: Yeah, try resetting your password or requesting a temporary new one. @rorie should be able to assist with that if necessary.

Also, did the above link work?

@rchen: I got a little spooked with giving a 3rd party my info. I changed my password --> SUCCESS!! And there was much rejoicing!!

I've had this for a while too, every day this week in fact - I've changed my password as suggested above to no avail - is iTunes just useless at understanding the "remember my password" box?

@darkflight: I never used to have this problem with iTunes, so I don't think it's a problem with them not remembering the password. From what I understand though, nothing changed on the giantbomb side either, so I have no idea what seems to be causing it now.

@lurg: @darkflight: Let me see if I have any issues with this in iTunes. I never use it for RSS, but I'll see if I can sign up and see what happens.

Is this for the PC or Mac or mobile version of iTunes? I can't even see a way to subscribe to RSS feeds in the latest PC iTunes.

Hey Rorie, just wondering if you managed to figure anything out by trying it yourself.

Thanks.

@lurg: I haven't been able to replicate this myself in iTunes. Just out of curiosity, is your password super long or have a lot of symbols in it? I've heard that that can cause some problems.

@lurg: Well, it's bad that we have to recommend that, but I believe this is more of an iTunes issue than one with our system, unfortunately. iTunes is apparently not the best at handling authenticated RSS feeds. If the issue persists, let me know and we'll see what we can do!
