Why is there no ability to quote posts on iOS devices / mobile site? I'm looking at the site on my iPad, so I'm using Safari. I seem to recall being able to go into a "full editing" mode a while back which was pretty much the same as the regular site in terms of features. Am I missing something, or was it taken out?
No quote on mobile site?
I also have this problem, I have never been able to post quotes using my ipad, which is the primary way I use the site.
@panelhopper: @poisonjam7:This might have been changed recently. Will look into it.
Yeah, it's always been like this for me since I've been a member basically. Never bothered to mention it cause I figured it was just an obviously desired feature so there must have been a reason it wasn't there. If theres a chance to quote on mobile safari, that would be great!
I always assumed this was by design and the site was defaulting to a plain text editor based on user-agent or something. Any consideration given to changing that would be cool.
Yeah, that's exactly how that stuff works, and how it has always been. On Chrome for Android you can hide your user agent by selecting the "request desktop site" option and it'll enable the full WYSIWYG editor, including the ability to quote. I don't know if other browsers such as those on iOS have a similar option.

I forget when exactly I started checking the site on my phone, but I could swear the lack of a quote button on mobile has been a thing either since the debut of "Sea Serpent", or at the very least it has been this way for the past year or two. I thought the lack of a quote on mobile was a concession they made as part of making the site responsive, as opposed to the dedicated m.giantbomb.com back in the Whiskey Media days.
Not the greatest solution, but try requesting desktop site on the page you want to comment on. For some reason, (on android with my nexus 7) when I do this, it brings me to a mobile looking version of the site (normally it just looks like the desktop version). For more reasons, the mobile looking version has a more robust text editor (comparable to the desktop version). No idea why it's like this, but it is.
edit: Ill post some picture of what Im talking about soon.
Edit 2: here's what the site looks like when I "request desktop site". I even posted this image from my nexus 7.
