Came across this question while seeking a solution tonight.

SOLUTION on Windows:

On Firefox the progress bar wouldn't go away.

Opened Chrome with the same outcome.

Pressed F11 twice.

Progress bar and mouse disappeared!

Went back to Firefox and progress bar disappeared within 2 seconds.

I trust this will help some of you out there!

Be gone progress bar!

Cheers,

Chris

I was able to make the progress bar disappear by double clicking underneath it several times. I also edited a cookie in Chrome as described in the link below but I have no idea if that was necessary or not.

I'm using Windows 10 with Chrome on a Dell Inspiron 3521 with external USB mouse.
