This is great news. My not-so-popular opinion is that this is the best Burnout game, so I'm thrilled to see it. I can't wait to tear down the streets again and cause chaos on the crash events!

Cool. Speaking of backwards compatible... You notice they removed that section from the storefront? Really lame. Only way to know what games are BC is to see in the website.

Hope they add it back.

I'm one of those weirdos that prefers 2 but revenge is also pretty great. I might replay it at some point.

You're not missing much! *ducks for cover*

Ah man the best Burnout is available on XBOX 1. Dang it, I was tempted before but this temps me even further.

@hassun: Traffic checking is fine because the races were designed around the concept of it. The same races in B3 you would be wrecking constantly. At the higher difficulties you're gonna be driving in the oncoming lane anyway so it doesn't come into play.

@hippie_genocide: The changes it made to the racing dynamic and how it diminished the teeth-clenching tension of weaving through traffic on the bleeding edge of control are some of the reasons I think Revenge is a clearly inferior game compared to Burnout 3.

The series would never recapture that true white knuckle racing feel either.

@hassun: really? never recapture? i thought paradise did a good job with the out of control feeling of speed. granted you had to unlock the super fast cars to get it. either way i think we can all agree that burnout deserves another kick at the can it's my choice for E3 longshot announcement.

Man, this game just moves. Popping from race to race while the music keeps going makes it really hard to hit a stopping point.

I agree! Revenge is fucking great! I own a digital copy of it so I'll definitely go download this and play it.

Traffic checking is a big part of why Revenge is my favorite Burnout. Traffic checking would solve half of my problems with Paradise.

@hassun: Mostly agree. Revenge is still a helluva game, though. If my memory is correct, Crash Mode is the best here and if there were some way to graft that onto Takedown that would make a perfect game even perfect-er.

I played Revenge on ps2 and loved it at the time. I can’t remember much about it though so can anyone tell me if it’s worth playing for the single player alone?

@pompouspizza: I only ever played the single player (PS2) and loved it. Once you're good enough, the game becomes holding down boost the whole time and finding ways to not have to let it go. It's absolutely nuts. Every race becomes a sprint. I love it.

@docporpoise: Reducing the risk when hitting other vehicles is more or less why it never recaptured that white-knuckle tension. Paradise also has some issues with inconsistent crashes and such that are probably caused by the open world nature of the game. It's less precise/focused by design.

As for another Burnout, on one hand it would be great but on the other hand Criterion is well and truly dead and I'm not sure who would be able to make another great Burnout game.

@ripelivejam: I'd say Takedown has the best Crash Mode. Either way I'm not saying Revenge is a bad game, far from it. It stills blows most other arcade racers cleanly out of the water.

Awesome! Burnout: Revenge had the honor of being the first game I bought for my 360 and I played the hell out of it. Last time I popped it in the online servers were offline, any chance they'll come back with the BC launch?

Always liked this one more than Paradise, something about Burnout being open world just didn't work for me.
