I'm writing a guide and haven't really been censoring myself with casual curses. It's not poorly written or anything, just casual sounding. Well organized and punctuated, though. I know this site is cool with not modding things like that as long as it's not racist or otherwise distasteful, just wondering if I need to go through and change a hundred things.

It's cool, right?

What's the need for curse words? Are you angry, etc. that you need a curse word there? Otherwise it is just unnecessary. For example:

A period goes at the end of the sentence.
A period goes at the end of the fucking sentence.

Both pretty much say the same thing, but the second sentence seems angrier or I'm like some 12 year old trying to be cool. Guides aren't meant to be "casual," but informative.

You should edit that stuff out of your guide.  There is no place for cursing in a guide or on a Wiki page...don't confuse what is tolerated on the forums with what is appropriate for a Guide or a Wiki entry.

I do not see the need for any curse words in wikis or guides. That just sounds silly.

Seems pointless. Why would guides require cursing?
Also keep in mind that if it's a good guide people may want to link to it from other sites and forums. Swearing may limit your audience, especially if the referring site does not allow links with lots of profanity.

Guides, and or wiki pages need not contain these things just like the pornographic images should be atleast edited to an extent *giantbombs over naughty parts* these are what will more often then that appear in google searchs over forum posts.

too much of that and people are gonna get pissed off.

I wouldn't give a shit, but society has, in its infinite wisdom, decided that some words are not professional. You'd want guides, reviews, etc to sound professional.

It gets really annoying in writing. It is similar to people who use like before everything they say.

I honestly don't mind curse words in guides but I think you should remember that the guides aren't the forums & we can't curse in wikis...

Soooooo yeah

Guides and wiki pages should be clean of all of that shit, man. I swear more then most on the forums, but I am always professional (or try to be) when I'm seriously editing. You can swear if you want to; but it will only give yourself and your guide a bad image. I'd advise against it.

I use a swear word in my streets of rage 2 guide (only one from what I can tell) and thats bastard (if you really consider that swearing). A really hard enemy named Shiva.

I started it off with, this guy is a bastard. Then went on, because he IS A TOTAL BASTARD even on medium difficulties. I don't use it often cause then it seems immature but I see no problem with using it rarely just to get a point across.

Depends if you're incorporating a sense of humor into your guide or not.

Ok instead of long drawn out answers you guys could say.... no.

We could, but in that case we shouldn't bother answering at all. Yes and no answers are meaningless if they're not explained.
