As a part of an ever expanding nation of gamers, the introduction of live discussions between the members of Giant Bomb is a delight to have. However, I feel as if there may be some slight inconvenience with the setup. I am not speaking about how the Live performance is captured or any of that, I am talking about the access to info about upcoming Live events. The notifications on the website are great, they let us know a Live event is coming up, and gives us a time. That is one of my suggestions.
The box that lets us members know if a show is coming up is excellent, but as a member from all the way across the country, it is slightly (only slightly) inconvenient that I have to figure out the time it would start in this timezone. Of course the fact that I am either not smart enough to learn it or too lazy to try is most likely the cause, but I feel that as a expanding website gains more members from more locations around the world, having the event times based on the PST time zone could become a hassle every time and event is released.
This is completely unnecessary, and the effort would be only to make things a little bit simpler for the members, but if we could have some conversions into the general US timezones, or any timezones would would presently be relevant, would let us members understand exactly what time the event will occur for us, and it would allow us to plan out our day accordingly.
Like I said, it is not really necessary since the timezone difference is pretty easy to understand, but my fellow members and I would greatly appreciate the effort if there was a decision to do this. Thanks.
(Agree or Disagree? Post your opinion or idea for further improvements and such. This is not only subject to Live, posting about the website in general is fine as well.)
Giant Bomb Live: Improvements.
All you have to do is use a search engine to find out.

Yeah, it already does that (E3 live show at 6 AM (we use 24h here through)) and well, it's (past) 6 here.@DivineCC said:
I could have sworn they said the upcoming box is timezone specific.
I think it is. I remember Dave saying something about it on Twitter - for me, it says a lot of quick looks etc. is put up at 3am. I assume that's my local time.
The box should be outputting in your timezone. It does for me. TNT starts at 7 EST, which is 4 PST, and it says 7:00 pm in the upcoming box.
If it's not doing that, you should head over to the Bug Reporting forum and report it.
As for features I'd like to see? A chat "refresh" button so I don't have to refresh the page and rewatch ads when the chat dies. I'd also like some way to ignore people in chat who spam the chat box whenever they can. Anything to make the chat cleaner and easier to read would be awesome.
Alright, thanks for the clarification, I wasn't too sure. Still feel free to add whatever you might find helpful.

Yep! The Coming Soon box is based on whatever time your computer is set to, so make sure that it's accurate!

Are you sure? There might have also been a field in your settings when you created your whiskey account, or perhaps if you didn't fill out the "about me" section in the settings, it could default to PST. I find it hard to believe it works on system time, because (1) I don't think browsers allow pages access to system level things like that, and (2) that only makes sense if your time is 100% accurate. Otherwise you'd see shows starting at like 8:32pm or something like that.
If you can't get that fixed, the live events have a countdown ticker when you're within a few hours of the show from anywhere other than the front page of the site, so you could always check that if you want to be lazy and not convert timezones in your head.
@onan: Yes, I'm sure; you can test it for yourself. Change the time zone on your computer, close your browser, open it back up, and come back to Giant Bomb. The Coming Soon time will have changed. My settings on Giant Bomb have nothing to do with what times show up there.

You're right, I guess I just never paid attention. Plus I never figured they'd do a Thursday Night Throwdown at 4 in the afternoon, nor would I have imagined they'd start posting content at 6am (shows up in EST as 9am).
OP, you probably never set your time zone away from GMT when you first set up your computer, you just set the time. You should double check that.
