I just noticed that https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/adding-a-game-and-box-art-to-the-directory?language=en_US now says IGDB is used for twitch games. When did this happen?

They acquired IGDB sometime last year, announced that they would be transitioning to use it for their database last year, and kept using GB's wiki until recently.

Parts of IGDB seem familiar...

This makes sense. Amazon has virtually unlimited resources and it makes sense not to rely on another private company for a crucial aspect of one of your major services, especially when that other private company is under new ownership that might make changes (ranging from shutting the site down to charging for its use.)
