... simple if you have database access, that is. Editing these one by one on the Wiki would be very slow. You would sort by country or website URL to get these listed and wouldn't need to refer to the list of company names.

Is this like the "API reports" I did a few years ago? It might be time to pick that up again.

Do these malformed URLs have user-facing side-effects. I had hoped the new site would be a bit better at defecting and correcting these common errors automatically.

Until there is a style guide specifying a preference, I am uninterested in unifying the United States naming. Well, we should fix that "Washington" at least.

Didn't see your post until now, never received a notification although I'm watching the topic.

It's up to staff whether to take action, I'm just bringing these points to attention.

Standardization can often be automated and of course holds advantages as far as making comparisons/stats go (How many companies are American?), as well as getting reliable output (returning an actual, well-formed URL when you ask for a URL)

There's also a number of duplicate company names. These are usually smaller/indie companies without any information whatsoever except for the names.

Otherwise duplicate names may at times be the same except prefixed with Ltd/Limited/LLC/etc, making it unclear whether or not they refer to the same company.

I just finished up the first list. But as far as I can tell there's nothing wrong with Skywards Software and T1 New Media. The URL field is blank.

I'll leave the others for now.
