@ People who say the people who went to a marketing event should be upset that they don't get what they want b/c they had to pay money and travel, w/e...

I mean I /could/ make the argument explaining why that's a poor use of time and money to begin with, but y'know what, I won't. I'll just say they signed up for something without considering the fact that it might disappoint them. It's okay to be disappointed, mind you, but I'm not losing sleep over it. Berating developers who very likely had little say at the planning phase of the project is childish. Don't play the game.

Capitalism was never about benefiting the consumer, it's not even about benefiting the corporation, it's about constant growth at the expense of everyone involved. I'm sure that'll ruffle A LOT of feathers, but w/e.

Just for comparison sake - Hearthstone was announced at a PAX event, not as the big Warcraft related announcement at the event that only the most hardcore Blizzard fans go to.

This is a masterpiece in misreading the room on Blizzards part.

@shivermetimbers: Yes, the system was set up to deliberately hurt humanity and was in no way well intended but had some unintended consequences. It was just a bunch of evil people that decided we needed constant economic growth for some inexplicable reason....

There's nothing wrong with a little cynicism, but this steps up to the extreme end and then takes five steps beyond. Personally I have a little more faith in people than that.

@jamjyo: So theres a couple strawmen hanging out in your reply.

First, I never said that there were no other acceptable responses except the alternative methods i mentioned that sounded more reasonable and mature to me. I do however, find that if you're taking time out of the question and answers session just to get your witty jab in at the mic, taking out your frustration on people who are just there to present the message to you, and getting upset because things aren't being announced on your terms then that is childish and inappropriate for not only the event but the age of those in attendance.

Second, I haven't used the word harassment in any of my posts so none of that is relevant to anything I said. I never claimed anyone was verbally or physically harassed.

Nothing productive is coming out of this thread so I'm closing it, at this point it has devolved into people insulting one another.
