I made my own controller.

I wanted to learn how hard it was to make a controller and figured a two button controller would be much easier project. Here's the end result:

This just gave me a horrible idea, remember that dead island riptide boob statue? What if they did a boob controller for Divekick? 2 boobs one with a yellow nipple and one with a blue nipple. How freaking stupid would that be? I'm a stupid genius!

Yeah my plan is to greenlightdivekick.com and get it on steam which is why I went with an xbox controller. The dashboard ui is mostly to make a better picture (and button testing). I've got the two buttons working as I want, but need to I'm also not sure what my long term plan for navigation should be. Currently you have to reach in the shoe and push the contacts directly which doesn't seem sustainable.

I've started work on the second shoe, and will document step by step and make a blog post/how to. As for where I got parts I picked them all up (except for the controller which I had laying around) from http://www.focusattack.com/

Okay, I didn't know it was coming to Steam. But now that I do, the controller is fine. Its a great design.

Question: Can your foot still go in the shoe? It would be interesting to try and play it using heel and toe taps.

This is so much more amazing then I thought it would be when I read this post.

So did you just take apart a 360 controller, rip it's guts out and solder the leads on the PCB to the buttons? Because that's my plan, except for the prototype I'm gonna use an old busted usb keyboard. Going with a more traditional square box made out of wood look for the enclosure and some big illuminated 100m domed buttons I found, I just hope I can get it to work.

I would have,um, cleaned the show first but that's pretty dope.

Would you mind posting how you got started making the controller? What parts did you use? Other than the shoe. :)
