Can somebody please identify which gameboy game this music is from. I've been racking my brains trying to remember, and it feels like it's on the tip of my tongue, but no luck so far.

I don't know, but there needs to be a Shazam for video game music.

I definitely owned this game as a kid...I'm trying to think of which one it was. My first thought was that it's from one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games.

@ch3burashka: I super agree with that. I'm so desperate to figure this out, I experimented with several different audio fingerprinting software solutions and ran them against a directory of gameboy music I converted from the gbs archives. But no luck.

@Mike: I just sampled all the tracks for for each of the TMNT games (gbsplay rocks!) and didn't hear anything that matched.

How do you know it's from Game Boy? What if it's NES.

Mega Man? Bionic Commando? It vaguely sounds like a Mega Man theme, so I'm guessing Capcom made it.

@egg: it's gameboy game because the music clip was sitting in my gameboy directory and I recognize it also. but it's possible that the same game with the same music would also be available on NES.

It sounds like Mega Man or possibly another Capcom game. Maybe Mega Man V.

@dudeglove: i've already checked all megaman games and no match. a better way to check soundtracks is to listen to the actual gbs files, rather than looking up individual youtube videos. there are several archives like this one: http://www.zophar.net/music/gbs.html .

@vextroid: Nice job! Man...I knew it was a game I owned when I was a kid, too. I went so far as to look through a list of Game Boy games, scanning the ones I knew I owned and trying to recall the music or look it up on YouTube. I just totally forgot that I owned that game, so I skipped over it. Amazing recall on this one! I haven't thought about Ninja Gaiden: Shadow in so long...it was my second Ninja Gaiden game ever, after the original of course on NES. I had a ton of fun with it and loved this game as a kid, but of course sometimes certain things are better left to nostalgia. I don't know how it would hold up if I played through it today, but I don't really want to. My memories of the time I spent with this game when I was little are plenty.

I put so many hours into this game as a kid. Because I was a kid and of course had no money of my own, I spent dozens and dozens of hours playing and replaying the games I did own, if not hundreds of hours in the case of games like Final Fantasy Adventure. When I first heard this clip, I had it stuck in my head that it was from one of the TMNT games though, for some reason. Oh well, my excuse was that it was 25 years ago. I bet many people reading this post aren't even that old.
