Off hand I can only really think of 3. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Cod 2 and Halo 2. Its very rare for me to absolutely get sucked into a game, normally I can only a play a game for an hour before swapping to another and then I cant go back for another day.

Fallout 3 will soon be among them. I still haven't bought the game and am now waiting for the GOTY edition. However, when I rented the game, I quickly fell in love and couldn't stop playing. I can't wait to get it and finish things up and try out all the DLC.
I can't give you 8 but I played over 1500 hours of Raven Shield over a few years and don't regret it one bit. To a lesser extent I played over 600 hours of BF2 and CoD4 combined.

1. Diablo 2 (and its expansion) - 3 solid years nonstop, 5 years after that on and off 2. Conquer Online (i was going through a free MMO phase of my life and stayed with this game for about 4 years 3. Guild Wars (and expansions) (this game is my second favorite MMO, only behind #2 on list, ya thats right, its better then WOW) 4. Fallout 2 (This game was just epic, enough said) 5. GTA 3(This game was at the perfect time for me, at the subtle age when you just wanna run over hookers and beat up cops) 6. Gears of War (This game was what made me see the error of my ways and pay for xbox live gold account) 7. Age of Empires 2 (and its many expansions) 8. Oblivion (ok i admit it, some people may remember me saying this game sucks, well when it was 50% off last week i got it and have been playing it non-stop since, i dont know what was wrong with me when i first tried it)

There have been only three games that stole my life.

1. Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (PS2) - I spent over 400 hours on the multiplayer in this game.
2. All Pokemon games - I'm sure if I added all the hours I've put into leveling my pokemans it'd be in the thousands.
3. GTA4 - I know I've spent 80 plus hours in the single player part and I've spent quite a long time playing online too.
4. Skate 2 - I'm up to 80 or 90 hours spent just in the regular game. I wouldn't be surprised if I've spent the same amount of time in the multiplayer trying to get to Legend rank. (And I did it)
5. Guitar Hero games - Same deal as pokemon. I've probably spent hundreds if not thousands of hours playing GH.
6. Super Metroid - About the first 5 times I beat this game I took 10 to 20 hours going thru it. Since then I've beaten the game at least 50 more times averaging at about 3 to 4 hours.
I don't know if I'd say those games stole my life. I enjoyed playing those games that much.
- counter-strike - warcraft 3: the frozen throne(dota to be exact) - gta4 That's pretty much it, i'm still waiting for fallout 3, mass effect, final fantasy XIII, rock band and possibly WoW to steal away my life.
8 seems like an odd number but here we go, the 8 games I 'think' i've put the most time into overall. Not in order of time invested as i've no idea which ones would go where, although SFII probably comes top, thousands of hours into that.

Resident Evil 2 (Odd yes, but i've played it so many times it accounts for many hundreds of hours of gameplay)
World of Warcraft (must have put in something like 300 - 350 hours, not a huge amount sure but, it's a lot of time for me to spend on one game)
Diablo II (again must have been a thousand hours at least, thing ruined my GCSE grades)
RF Online (few hundred hours at least, I was the cornerstone of my servers economy :) )
Pick your flavor of JRPG, probably Final Fantasy VII as i've played it multiple times, but equally as likely an SMT game.
There might be others i've spend huge amounts of time on, but they obviously slipped my mind, or I didn't spend as insane an amount of time as I did with the above list.

Trying to think of recent stuff as well as things that absorbed my childhood. I played a LOT of Mario bros back then. No idea how many hours, lets just say countless.
