Do you think that they are a symbol of how some Japanese game companies have not pushed forward. I am not saying that the Japanese game industry is dead, but Tecmo-Koei is certainly not helping the cause.
about Tecmo-Koei
Koai is the epitome of that but Tecmo, well Team Ninja as least, Still has some quality and innovation left in them. I never played Other M but it sure seems to be a huge step away from past Metroid games.
No, they're a symbol of annualised sequels which quite a few franchises have in the East and West. Market forces, some people pander to the fans rather than innovate.

You know the people that actually buy our games?
Instead of giving them what they want, lets do something else.
" @trophyhunter: Good call actually. I guess it's a question of how much you want of a particular series. I've had my fill of Dynasty Warriors and would like to see improvements, but I have no problem with the series or the people that like it. "You might look into Dynasty Warriors 7 when it comes out. The game is supposed to have some pretty big changes in its gameplay structure (not that it won't still be a fairly basic hack-and-slash at its core).

- Characters can now switch between two weapon types.
- There is a new faction storyline, Jin, which historically formed upon the merging of the three kingdoms.
- A completely restructured story mode.
