Maybe I'm the only person who thinks this is an interesting way to present data, but here goes. This video depicts every nuclear explosion recorded between 1945-1998. Where it happened, when it happened, and who set it off. It naturally starts off pretty slowly, and there are lulls--uneventful months are marked by a metronomic beep. Be patient or fast forward if you want (shit *really* starts going down in 1955). There's a recap at the end.
All 2,053 nuclear explosions from 1945-1998.

"This would probably make a cool music video. "
It's like the ending of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the ending of WarGames had a baby.
Australia is definitely lacking in the nuclear explosion territory. We should all work to rectify that.
" so, what is with the color coding of the blips? "Just makes the epilepsy more colorful.
" so, what is with the color coding of the blips? "It represents different countries I think.
Man, I dunno what year it was exactly (think it might've been '66), but damn, I'm surprised that generation of individuals from that area of America weren't all mutants or something.
Wow. That's some extremely dark and depressing video-game-inspired satire.
On the bright side... GO U.S!!!!!
And the ending can be interpreted as a metaphor for some kind of nuclear sexual climax. Obviously, America gets the biggest load. Well, maybe I just watch too much porn...
You watch that and you'd think the universe of Fallout is not only real but would be old news by now.
" Man, I dunno what year it was exactly (think it might've been '66), but damn, I'm surprised that generation of individuals from that area of America weren't all mutants or something. "They were all done in one very isolated area in New Mexico, which is pretty much all desert.
It was interesting to see Britain use the test sites in America a few times, though (I am colour blind, however, so, uh, maybe they didn't. Cough). I wonder why they didn't just use the ocean every time?

" Wow you would think the U.S west coast would be a giant microwave by now. "It's basically all deserts in Arizona and Nevada. My dad was actually stationed at the test site in NV (area 12 or something like that) in the early 90s. Kinda around 90 or so minutes north of Vegas.

But the resulting pictures are pretty nifty -
Boom goes the dynomite.
