Being 44 and playing games for a while, I was wondering if it's possible to crack out all my old Nintendo and Sega consoles and run them on a LCD TV with some half decent picture quality, I have tried a Gamecube but the picture is a little blurry and not as I suspect it could be with a little box of tricks. I heard Mr Caravella talking about a new box of gadgets that an expense request had to be justified to Mr Big Boss on the Bombcast last week and not wanting to break the bank  I was wondering if it's possible to do it at home. I'm sure somebody in the GiantBomb universe has done it and can point me in the right direction. I have some knowledge of AV so feel free to get as technical as you like.

As a point of interest what box of tricks has Whisky Media invested in that desereved a mention on the Bombcast ?

It should work just fine. However, it will still look like ass.

I'm going to go ahead and make the suggestion of emulators on a computer. I know, it isn't the genuine article, but it still works just fine.

They bought a 13 thousand dollar scan convertor.

I play old games on my LCD. It isn't super clean, but that's a flaw in the analog signal output by the consoles. There really isn't anything you can do about it.

my old consoles worked fine on my LCD TV, just looked a bit blurry like i was playing a 320x240 game on much higher resolution, which i was so fair enough.
vinny talked about a scan line converter, i don't think its necessary for you to spend 1k on.  he is worried about recording quality not so much what it looks like playing the games i think.

hook your consoles up and see what you get. mileage may vary from tv to tv.

i'll give you a day or two before you decide to let the video games of yesteryear can stay in the past, like i did.
often unfair and no saves :)

I think it might depend on what TV you have, my old systems work fine but it was pretty complicated to get it working.
