There are just under 850k playing Cyberpunk on Steam right now...
The highest concurrent player count for Witcher 3 was just over 100k which is really high already.
How the hell this game do this?!
Years of hype, Covid, releasing at a time when there's not a ton of other stuff coming out.
Cyberpunk was always going to be huge.
It's been a very hyped game for several years now, plus The Witcher 3 got CDPR a lot of fans, plus the coronavirus is keeping people inside, and so on and so forth. Also I don't think there have been any other massive games being released, apart from the usual Calls of Duty and Assassins Creeds.
@bisonhero: It's like the only big budget fall game that isn't a dull sequel.
It had better be almost a million, for all the money CDPR has poured into marketing. Frankly, I'm tired of seeing ads for it despite being interested in the game.
I don't know why you made this thread. Because, I'm not sure what your point is.
It only makes sense that a game from the same maker to have a comparable performance of another game they made. That's why brands sell.
@giant_gamer: Yes but their point was it isn't comparable. It's 10x the record concurrent players for the Witcher 3. However, as others have pointed out, there are reasons.
@ape_dosmil: oh, it's 10x!
Sorry about that.
A lot of players joined in late to witcher 3 party and fell in love with it, me included so this is another factor.
Not to mention it being a timed exclusive on PC for the next-gen feel.
