O.K. I had this weird and funny thought the other day while I was thinking of games to add to the lists that I have on my profile and doing some of the quests that I need to catch up on as well. I thought, hey what if some of these games were done in a Marvel/DC Amalgam comics style and they merged two different franchises into a new, strange and fun game experience. Primarily I was thinking that The Donkey Kong series of games (Country/Land/DK64) could be merged with Konami's Contra series and you could have Donkey Contra! LOL! Since the side-scrolling game play from both the Donkey Kong Country/Land games is very similar to that from the Contra games this would work, all you'd have to do is give DK and Diddy their respective guns from Donkey Kong 64 and have them blast away a Kremlings and the other assorted enemies and you'd have a perfect blend of the two games. Well, that's my idea now I'd like to hear from some other fellow GB users on what they think might make a fun amalgamated game.

However I suppose you could create knock-offs of each &
get something that a reviewer would call Donky Contra without
being part of either one.
True, but I was thinking that this would be mostly for fun really. Not as if anything like this would actually ever get made outside of China or Japan, being that in China and some other Asian companies that there are plenty of black market knock-off copyright infringed games to be had, and in Japan they do all kinds of cross-property titles, but I think that their licensing regulations are different than ours to allow them to do such things that we can't do here. This is all hypothetical. So, let's just say that copyright infringements & licensing are no object and thrown out the window. What else would make a great game that was a mix of two different properties?
There's a ton of games like that in Japan like Cross Edge for example.
But if I were to play that I probably wouldn't recognize any of the characters.
" There's a ton of games like that in Japan like Cross Edge for example. But if I were to play that I probably wouldn't recognize any of the characters. "Right, but those are all still your standard cross over type games. That's not really what I'm talking about here. I'm thinking of an actual blend between the two of them that takes from both, but is it's entirely new thing. Not just a game where they put a bunch of different characters together and have them fight like most of them are, or something like Kingdom Hearts that blends Disney with Final Fantasy. My "Donkey Contra" example is a game that while still being a slight tweak to Donkey Kong Country would "borrow" from the Contra series for lack of a better word to create something that's still somewhat new that folks might want to try. I also used the Amalgam comics example to reiterate the idea. One of the main Amalgam characters was Dark Claw, a mix of Batman and Wolverine. Say that they actually made a game based on that comic. The game would be a mix of Batman games and Wolverine games. That's what I'm saying. Doesn't anyone here have any imagination?
