Hey folks,
(If this isn't an okay place to post this, go ahead and nuke this post)
I built a new Android app I'm calling Luchadeer to watch Giant Bomb videos and browse through games from the wiki:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dforsyth.android.luchadeer
It is completely free and supports Android 4.1 and up. If the demand is there, I'll work on some backwards compatibility. Right now, the app lets you:
- Stream any Giant Bomb video to phones, tablets, or Chromecast
- Search and browse through the extensive library of games on the Giant Bomb wiki
- Receive push notifications when new videos are posted for your favourite video categories, or when the Giant Bomb chat goes live
- Save your favourite videos and games so you can always find them easily
- Download videos so you can watch them later
- Link your Giant Bomb account -- subscribers get access to all of their exclusive and HD content, normal users get off the shared rate limit.
And I've got a bunch more that I want to add.
I've also open sourced the whole thing (Android app and backend). If people are interested in this app, I want them to be able to see whats going on with it as well as be able to make their own contributions. Or better yet, maybe someone will learn something from it. The repositories are here:
Android app: https://github.com/dforsyth/Luchadeer
Backend: https://github.com/dforsyth/luchadeer-backend
If you try the app out and find problems with it, have a feature request, or anything like that, you can PM here, post in this thread, or make an issue on Github. If you have code or a feature to contribute, I'll happily take a look at pull requests.
Also, a huge thanks to supernormalstep for giving me permission to use his work as the icon for the app.
Finally, here are some current screens:
