Next year I am taking Computer Animation 1.
I know very little about this class so I was hoping someone on this site has taken it before in high school and could tell me the basics of it and anything else I could find helpful.

@Enigma777:  It offers a lot of courses. Cooking, construction, fashion, and a lot of others. It's pretty nifty.

Man, that would have been nice if my school had that. I'm taking animation in college, and the first time I touched the software was when I went to class. It would have been cool to be a little more familiar with it at the beginning.

@Cupids_Hitman:  How difficult was the software to use at first?

A buddy of mine took animation at his school and the guy who taught it worked on Lair. Its a high school course so it is obviously just intro stuff, you will obviously be doing simple animations, i dont know what other kind of info you are looking for.

@Twitchey: Just learning the basics, it wasn't that difficult at all. The software itself is super complicated, and there are still a ton of things I haven't learned to do yet (I'm just wrapping up my first year), but just the things that you need to know in order to simply animate, once you learn what everything does, it's not that difficult at all.

Now making your animation look good, that's the real trick. ;)

I am using Maya, however from my understanding, for the most part, the software is fairly similar, so you shouldn't have too hard a time getting the hang of it.

Don't have much to add to this thread, but I just wanted to say how cool it is that your high school has this course to offer!  Mine didn't even have drama class heh... it was pretty traditional in terms of the subjects taught.

@Twitchey: If its anything like my school you will get full credit for everything as long as you try and follow the assignment's requirements. Also art classes in high school usually have some really interesting people so I would highly recommend it. Especially if it interests you.
