So, first of all, I don't mean the design. I've never really minded it, and generally found it's actual use (finding the game that I want to play or the game that I want to buy) far more favorable to me than the PS4 (that PS4 store...yeesh). I'm speaking simply from a general lag standpoint. I have an Xbox One X (but my friend's Xbox One has the same issues) and it is to the point now where the lag in the UI is just bordering on maddening. From things like the store taking forever to load (despite a fast internet connection -- I experience zero problems running a video or playing a game online, but GETTING to that video or that game -- yikes-a-roonie) to actual seconds at times between when I push "down" on the stick and the actual cursor moves down, to "My Games" taking FOREVER to load in, to even things like the "Updates" tab spinning for several minutes before the update itself actually populates. What is going on with this? Are other people experiencing it? I've seen via Google searches that this has been a problem for a variety of people over the years, but none of the solutions from years ago work, and from what I can find of the most recent posts (usually no later than August) there is just wild speculation about an upcoming patch "fixing the problem". If I have to suffer through it, c'est la vie, but I had to ask just in case. Is there something that I'm missing?
Just in case it may be applicable, I'm also using this older WD external hard drive:

Also, I have already tried: a hard reboot, turning off smooth transitions, clearing my blu-ray persistent storage, and clearing my alternate MAC address.
Although, my friend that I mentioned has the same issues with no external so, I don't know what the heck to think. Thanks for any and all help!

Any other Xbox One, S or X users UI just unbearable?
Absolutely no way around it, the UI is simply bad and unresponsive. It’s not just you (I’m on an S, no external drive).
So many times I press A, the sound of the input plays, but nothing actually happen. If the console can’t connect to the internet for some reason it’s a whole another level of bad UI.
@fear_the_booboo: Well, I suppose I'm thankful for the fact that we all have a general camaraderie regarding this awfulness, and also sad that there is no solution. Some small part of me posted this with a glimmer of optimism that maybe there was just one tiny solution out there that I just wasn't utilizing the right search term for or something.
