I SLOGGED through 20 hours of Xenoblade Chronicles until I realized "hey, I don't like this game."
20 hours is enough to make that decision, yeah?
No man, 60 hours is where it starts to get really good!
Those arguments are always insane to me. A great game can afford to have a not so great first hour or two, but anything more than that and it's just not worth it. There are too many games out there to waste time on a long crappy build up. Maybe it wasn't true in the like the N64 era when there was one game released every two months, but these days there are tons of amazing games on every platform and more coming out every day.
20 hours is a huge amount of time to spend on something you don't enjoy. That's like 2 weeks of game time for me (and those are two good weeks) and I just don't have that time in my life.
As for OPs question, my answer is Xenogears. By all rights I should love that game, and I do enjoy it, but every time I start it I just fall off for whatever reason. The pacing or something, I don't know. I keep meaning to go back, but it's SO long.
I have also been playing Darksiders off and on for like 5 years now. Every year or so I'll play a couple hours and then put it down. Not starting over, just picking up where I left off, even though I lost the plot long ago. Not sure why. I do like that game I guess I just don't love it?
