Are you talking $45 total for both of them? If so, that is a pretty good deal in my book. I have seen AC:Brotherhood get down to $30 at its lowest thus far (I prepare the ad signs for the Target I work at, nothing gets by me!) which is a damn good price.
If you haven't played any of the AC games, both of those could be a bit of overload. But they are totally awesome, and good investments. The story mode is quite long in both cases. I would recommend getting both of them and playing them at your own pace. I wouldn't want you to rush through them in a race to get to the next game this year and then hate that one because of the overload. Take your time, but I think AC2 is the best starting point for someone getting into AC.
