Batlle.NET and Facebook are going to integrate for SC2. NO!

Ever wanted your friends on Battle.net and the friends list you have on Facebook to be one and the same? Well, it seems as if Blizzard has taken a step toward making it happen. Starting with the highly anticipated Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, anyone who plays on the revamped Battle.net will now have the option to invite and integrate their friends from Facebook onto Battle.net, now making it much easier for gamers to form games with their friends, and keep up with one another achievements and progression in the Starcraft II trilogy.

“We’re pleased to be working with Facebook to integrate their platform with Battle.net to enhance the social-entertainment experience for our players,” said Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment. “This new functionality will make it easier than ever to connect with friends on Battle.net and play StarCraft II and future Blizzard Entertainment games together.”

With this update, Blizzard is certainly being ambitious by working with the world’s largest social networking website and using it to integrate into their new Battle.net system. Not to mention the fact that now your Facebook friends and Battle.net friends are free to Zerg rush one another whilst telling one another to spawn more overlords. The integration is scheduled to begin with the beta in the coming weeks.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty is slated for a July 27th release.

I don't see what's so wrong with this. It isn't mandatory and would be a neat way for people who you are unaware of having SC2 to be able to hook up with you easily.

Facebook integration is always optional. Just ignore it.

Why is this a bad thing? Sure, you might not use facebook, but plenty of people do. It isn't hard to ignore a "Connect with Facebook" button and just get on with playing the game. It doesn't affect you in any way.

People can never seem to ignore optional things. Remember when GB put the Facebook connect button up top? People flipped the fuck out. It's optional. Get over it.

What are you people even talking about?! It says right there in the article that YOU MUST CONNECT WITH FACEBOOK in order to play the game. If not, it wipes your hard drive and burns the image of a big middle finger into your monitor. Gah!

I guess this will be a useful feature for the few of my Facebook friends who will play SC2, as long as it doesn't spam the rest of my friends.

I personally think importing my friend's list from Facebook to Starcraft 2 would be pretty useful...I don't see what the big deal is, do you guys not want your friends to know you play good games?  I mean if my friends are going to spam me with song lyric status updates, invitations to games (that aren't games at all), and post 30 pictures of themselves taken in the walmart bathroom, I don't see anything wrong with this.

Can someone come up with even 1 reason why this would negatively affect your SC2 experience? If you don't want friend knowing how much time you spend playing SC2 don't sync up with facebook.

I hate to sound harsh, but I think the people who don't like it are typically the people who don't have many friends and aren't considerably social. I know that sounds snarky, but that's the case I always run into "

I like to keep my internet persona and my real-life persona separate. That way I can feel like a superhero or something...and I'm hoping this doesn't share my facebook info with people I might want to play online with.

How am I supposed to get in the game and click on the "don't show this ever again" button when it comes up with a "Connect to facebook" promt?  
It's like the hardest thing to do, I can't believe how so many people know how to do it!
