So with the Nolan North award retiring, will another VO taker over or it will the last one?
Maybe Steve Blum...

I don't think they know that much about Steve Blum. Troy Baker seems like the voice actor they are more aware of that isn't David Hayter who barely does VO if it ain't Snake. I don't even think they know about Jennifer Hale all that much.
Yuri Lowenthal would take the cake if they had a larger focus towards Japanese games. That motherfucker is every strapping young anime hero.
Singling an award to a sole voice actor is simply absurd frankly. There are plenty of talented voice actors and actresses around, and I've always thought it unfair to snub them in favour of Nolan North just because he's the most recognisable. I just wish that they would set up an actual ''best voice performance in a video game'' award or something.
My such nominations would be:
@Yummylee: I think cause Nolan north is so many games, although this year was kinda dry. He's in a lot Cartoons/Anime/TV nowadays
@clumsyninja1: I took their retirement of the Northies this year as a tribute to the phenomenal job Nolan did as Captain Walker. Like when Jeff argued that everyone should stop making video games because Saints Row 3 was the video game to end all video games, except serious.
For this year, I'd give it to Troy for Resident Evil 6. I really liked Jake and Troy voicing him made it better. Next year would be between Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite easily, no matter what else he does.
@Yummylee: The Northies is a joke category that was created because he was in a lot of games the year the category was inaugurated. No one in the crew seems to know about any voice actors outside of Nolan North, Troy Baker, David Hayter, and to a lesser extent Jennifer Hale.
I think they should do a best performance but the Northies wasn't meant to say that Nolan North does his job better than everyone else. It's just that he was really recognizable and he played a main character in quite a few games the year the category was created. The Northies are meant as "best use of Nolan North" more than "Reason why North is the best."
@SethPhotopoulos: I know why the Northies was conceptualised, but I've just always found it annoying how he's like one of the only few that they could name, or even bother to care about. He's the only voice actor that the staff would actually call out and link in a review, minus to my knowledge when Brad actually picked up on Troy Baker in RE6 and Alex giving credit to Brian Bloom in The Darkness II, and that in particular I always found to be unfair. I know that they're not aware of many voice actors, either, but that's because they evidently don't care enough to do the research.
With the natural evolution in storytelling and narrative across this generation, you would think they'd look up the voice actors behind the performances that drive it all.
Rather than have an award for just a specific voice over they should nominate who their favorite voice overs were for the year and then decide who is the winner. So many great voice actors/actresses that I'd think it would be rather fun for the GB crew to discuss about them.

- Brian Bloom as Jackie Estacado. Or maybe David Hoffman for his Johnny Powell performance instead... Someone from The Darkness II would have to be on here in any case.
For reals. Criticisms against the story and gameplay aside, that game had fantastic VO.

Fuck everyone listed here. Liam O'Brien is the real star here man!
I haven't played Asura's Wrath, so I can't speak to the actual performance, but knowing how much torture he must have put his throat through to truly exhibit the pure, unadulterated rage has to be commended there's no doubt about that.
Im more all about his performance as Caius Ballad in FFXIII-2 but really anything he does is fantastic and he is in just as many if not more games than Nolan.@Demoskinos said:

That was the joke originally, they started the Northies in a year where he was in no less than six games. Then they just kept running with it because so did he (in terms of work output) and now it seems like they're retiring it because he's pulling back from being in so many games every year.
