Bethesda Planning New Fallout For 2010
Great Obsidian the developer that ruins great game franchises aka. Kotor 2 and NWN2.
Fallout 3 was shit though so I don't see how it could get worse, maybe they can make great animations and combat unlike Bethesda and maybe their games wont crash if you have certain codecs installed.
I'm not sure I like the idea of the location. It's basically right in the same location that the 2 fallouts were already located. Fallout 2 took place around San Fransico and Reno. If anything it might be a rehash of Fallout 2. And considering how Fallout turned out, I have a bad feeling about this.
I don't have a good feeling about this. Fallout 3 was..... okay. But it just never felt Fallout-ish. Hopefully Obsidian can bring back that Fallout feeling.
*Starts singing - You've lost that Fallout feeling, whoa oh oh, that Fallout feeling. You've lost that Fallout feeling! Now its gone, gone, gone, whoa oh oh!*
Good, Obsidian has a chance to give the Fallout series some justice. Bethslop should stick to making the Elder Scrolls series.
I missed the part where Obsidian are developing this. They had about a year to ramp up and crank out KOTOR2, and I was not a fan of that game. Hopefully, Bethesda's code is easier to work work, and Obsidian gets more time for Quality Assurance testing this time around.
I'm not going to expect too much from Fallout Vegas. My guess is that it'll be like a very large expansion pack, with a so-so story and quests.
"trophyhunter said:hey I got all 1000 points in fallout 3 so waka waka"heres hoping they will put more than 5 quests in this one "DOH HO HO HO HO HO HODERP."

Lol chill out PapaLazarou, Fallout 3 was a good game man, who cares if there were a couple of crash bugs.
I'm not sure that I actually want a new Fallout game, I'd be perfectly happy with some big bits of DLC for this Fallout game, give me a new city, some new weapons and perks and I'll give you my points.
EDIT: When did Vegas become the new Mars? Every other game seems to be set there these days. There must be a thousand cities in the world, pick another one!
I enjoy Obsidian's games. They bring more mature, thoughtful storyline....at the expense of some technical prowess. We'll see what happens with the game.
"When did Vegas become the new Mars? Every other game seems to be set there these days. There must be a thousand cities in the world, pick another one!"Well for one, because the ridiculousness and insanity of Vegas makes it the perfect place to throw you into. For two, I don't know what you're talking about. I can only think of four games set in "Vegas" off the top of my head: San Andreas, Fallout New Vegas, Dead Rising 2, and This Is Vegas (which doesn't count on account of Midway will go out of business before it comes out). Heck, I'd even consider San Andreas a stretch, as Las Venturas is so tiny and empty!

I love how many people didn't read the article past the first couple of sentences. I THOUGHT THEY WERE WORKING ON THE ELDER SCROLLS 5 TOO, MAN!
Also, what's with the Obsidian hate? KotOR 2 was awesome, it just... Had some bits... Missing. What was there was fun, at least.

Focus more on content than on churning out full blown sequels where they have the majority of focus on technical bits that are not that important anymore."I missed the part where Obsidian are developing this. I keep waiting for Obsidian to regain its Black Isle Status. At this point, I like to think of them as Blizzard-esc employees who aren't given the luxury of taking their time. That's why a lot of their efforts seem incomplete. Blizzard would release shit games too if you rushed them. But yeah, hopefully between this and Alpha Protocol they get a little reputation repair.
Anyone have any suggestions for improvements to the engine?
And... is Obsidian the group that made KOTOR II? :/
Wait... what? Obsidian ruined NWN2? Those games were all pretty sweet. Not quite up there with the best games of the past, but certainly the best offerings of recent memory.
This is awesome news, but I wonder what style of Fallout they'll be going for? I loved Fallout 3, and the "Oblivion" style to the combat and other elements. I think Fallout works particularly well as an open world environment. At this point, I would rather see another game in that vein than an old timey top-down RPG.
Thank god, at least this mean that Bethesda is almost certainly waiting to unveil the elder scrolls V... I was worried they would say they were working on another Fallout. Don't get me wrong Fallout 3 is great, but a fifth elder scrolls game would trounce any fallout sequel.
Well, considering obsidian entertainment is essentially Black Isle studios, (fallout 1 and 2 anyone?) you cant really go wrong here. Neverwinter Nights 2 was actually really quite good, especially mask of the betrayer, and while I'll agree kotor 2 wasnt great, fallout is really THEIR game, so I'm sure it will be awesome.

"Can someone please explain to me what it is about Elder Scrolls I'm missing? I can't stand those games and their generic, boring, god-awful universe."
dungeons and dragons and unicorns
I was hoping it would be set in New Angeles.
The one thing that Gamespot pointed out (that we didn't realize) is that Obsidian houses many of the developers who ORIGINALLY worked on Fallout back in 1997. It might be interesting to see what the old team brings to the modern franchise.
OK, but it was a big complaint about how the wasteland was pretty boring to traverse in terms of what it looked like, but really, what else can you expect from a nuked place? So we get to see the same thing in Vegas cuz its already like that and have a few casinos sprinkled in? I want to see what they do with it.
