If you have a Rommate that plays it, MH3 all the way. Bravely Default is pretty good, but MH3U is my favorite 3DS game (including Pokemon). It'll be almost a year before we see Monster Hunter 4 here, so you might as well jump on this one

MH3 without a doubt. And make sure that fool teaches you how to play.

Bravely Default is a shorter, simpler, more story driven single player experience.

Monster Hunter is extensive, more difficult, less story more community driven game.

I suggest you pick what you are in the mood for the most since they are pretty vastly different. All handle pretty well and look pretty good.

I'd wait for MH4 over getting MH3, but that is a long way off, and I'm sure you can get 3 cheap now.

I play MH weekly with a buddy of mine. Worth it with others playing with you. Haven't played Bravely Default but my friend who plays MH likes it.

I have Monster Hunter for Wii U and failed to get into it. I think Bravely Default is a good game and has a wonderful art style. I would go for whatever one you like the look of more. I am sure both games can appeal to you more if you watch some gameplay videos or read a few reviews.

I tried Monster Hunter but, couldn't really get into it. I'm more into story and there's is absolutely none in Monster Hunter. And I'm currently about 15 hours into Bravely Default it's pretty good.

Can't compare those two games. If it'll take to take too long to buy the other one later then I'd go for MH first. If that's not the case I'd go for BD as it is one of the best 3DS games.
