It's mostly Capcom that does this but some games have a french instruction manual shrink rapped to case. my question is what do you use the extra manual for? i currently use them as drink coasters but i'm interested in other possible uses.
Canadian gamers, what do you do with your extra manual?
For a while I kept them in a pile on the end of a shelf on my desk. Once I had about 15 amassed, I sent them to my friend in Quebec and he proceeded to put them directly in the trash.
Throw them out.
...wait, what the fuck, I'm not Canadian?
Anyway, as I'm American I generally get instructions in at least English and Spanish. In things other than video games, you might get a full instruction book in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin, Afrikaans, and any other number of languages. It gets quite insane sometimes.
If it fits inside the case, I put it there (it also makes it heavier, I kinda like that). Otherwise I just throw it away.
But I think nowadays, there's only one manual with english/french/spanish all-in-one. Most manuals are so thin now anyway.
Edit: I'm French Canadian by the way, just for information. I keep the english manuals.
ok so most people throw them out. as for putting them in the case most of the time they just don't fit which is partly why i think it's just shrink rapped to the case. the thought just struck me; what if they were used to make say... diorama's? time to break out the scissors, glue sticks and sparkles.
@Strife777: yeah most of the time it's a all in one job but i noticed capcom likes to make 2, i mean right beside me i have SSF4, Dead Rising 2, Dark Void, DMC4 and SSF4 3d. the french one is usually the one on the outside of the case which is why it gets tossed aside, but honestly the only time i take the manual out these days is to get the day one DLC codes on the card behind it.
The cool part about the French manual is that it's usually way bigger, because it's made to fit on the outside of the case instead of being tucked into the inside. So you get this French manual that's usually like 25% bigger.
It used to infuriate me to no end when the french manual was shrink wrapped around the shrink wrapped package for the game I had just bought. THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED! But ya, totes throw them out.

I read them to brush up on my French!
I do that as well. I used to import games from Canada .... I assume they went broke as the site disappeared ....... and the y came a lot with an extra manual, I assume to omply with Canadian law. I enjoyed trying to translate them - French is an awesome language.
